Winona’s is a family-run restaurant, all-day café and natural wine bar from partners Cressida Greening and Emir Dupeyron, nestled in Northern Bed-Stuy. Anchored by seasonally-driven dishes, thoughtfully curated natural wine, and community events with guest chefs, wine experts and food activists. Winona’s started as an extension of supper clubs regularly hosted in our apartment right next door, where we gathered friends and strangers around one long table. The space was designed to evolve from our dining room where we could continue to bring people together. We hope to offer our guests an experience that is not limited by time but where lingering over dessert or conversation is encouraged.

The Dining room is our latest innovative architectural design that was completed around 2022. The idea was to recalibrate and focus more on innovative recipes while having the space to complement our commitment to food innovation. The dining room is the epitome of the black-tie event; it’s a picturesque space designed for those who love to entertain. It resembles elegance and sophistication but, most importantly, reflects our core objectives as a neighborhood restaurant. It is perfectly secluded with access to our second garden & an en suite lavatory.

Brooklyn's small wedding venues vary widely on outside catering policies. Many restaurant-based venues like those in Williamsburg and Park Slope require you to use their in-house kitchens, which can actually simplify planning and lower costs. Industrial lofts and event spaces in Gowanus and Red Hook more commonly allow outside caterers, though expect to pay a facility fee or meet minimum spending requirements—often $5,000 to $10,000 depending on guest count. BYOB policies are less common in Brooklyn than in outer boroughs, but some venues allow wine and beer for a corkage fee of $15 to $25 per bottle. Always ask about kitchen access, service staff requirements, and whether the venue has preferred vendor lists. Venues with full liquor licenses typically won't permit outside alcohol, especially in neighborhoods like DUMBO where permits are strictly regulated.
Many small wedding venues offer flexible catering policies, though it varies significantly by venue type. Private estates, art galleries, and community spaces often allow you to bring your own caterer or alcohol, which can help you control costs and personalize your menu. However, restaurants, wineries, and all-inclusive venues typically require you to use their in-house catering services.
When evaluating catering flexibility, ask about corkage fees (usually around $15-$35, according to the Zola Wedding Cost Index per bottle), outside vendor fees, and kitchen access. Some venues that prohibit outside catering may still allow you to bring your own wine or beer with a fee. According to Zola marketplace data across 944 small venues, the median starting price is around $4,000, but venues with full catering flexibility often have higher minimums to offset lost food and beverage revenue. Always clarify minimum spend requirements upfront, as they can range from a few thousand dollars on weekdays to significantly more on peak weekend dates.
