Just outside of downtown Tampa sits The Orlo, a private social club housed within the historic Spafford House and ballroom. Orlo J. Spafford, the president of the Tampa National Bank, built the Orlo in 1896 to share with his son and his family. In 1922 the Orlo was sold to the Tampa Women’s Club where the addition of a ballroom was made to host formal parties and extravagant dances. This historical ballroom still stands today and is ready to host your next party or extravaganza. Some of our favorite features are our gorgeous bridal suite on the second floor. It has so much natural lighting (a photographers dream) and large enough for you and your bridal party to get ready on your wedding morning! Outside catering policies vary widely among Tampa's small wedding venues, so this should be one of your first questions during venue tours. Some historic venues like the Tampa Firefighter's Museum may offer more flexibility with outside vendors, while country clubs and full-service venues typically require you to use their in-house catering teams. Given Tampa's warm climate year-round, venues with kitchen facilities are especially valuable if you're considering outside catering—you'll want proper refrigeration and prep space for food safety.
Many Tampa venues that allow outside catering will still require licensed and insured caterers, and some impose a venue fee or minimum spend requirement to offset the lost catering revenue. BYOB policies are similarly venue-specific, though some historic and industrial spaces in Ybor City tend to be more lenient. Always ask about corkage fees, which can run $15 to $35 per bottle in the Tampa area.
Many small wedding venues offer flexible catering policies, though it varies significantly by venue type. Private estates, art galleries, and community spaces often allow you to bring your own caterer or alcohol, which can help you control costs and personalize your menu. However, restaurants, wineries, and all-inclusive venues typically require you to use their in-house catering services.
When evaluating catering flexibility, ask about corkage fees (usually around $15-$35, according to the Zola Wedding Cost Index per bottle), outside vendor fees, and kitchen access. Some venues that prohibit outside catering may still allow you to bring your own wine or beer with a fee. According to Zola marketplace data across 944 small venues, the median starting price is around $4,000, but venues with full catering flexibility often have higher minimums to offset lost food and beverage revenue. Always clarify minimum spend requirements upfront, as they can range from a few thousand dollars on weekdays to significantly more on peak weekend dates.
Most couples in Tampa book their wedding venues 12 to 18 months in advance, especially for peak wedding season from October through May when the weather is ideal. Tampa's waterfront and garden venues are particularly in-demand during these cooler months, and popular weekend dates can fill up quickly. If you're planning a winter wedding to take advantage of Tampa's mild climate, consider starting your venue search even earlier—around 18 to 24 months out. Summer weddings (June through September) offer more flexibility due to heat and humidity, so you may find availability with 9 to 12 months' notice. According to the Zola Wedding Cost Index, venue costs for 100 guests in Tampa typically range from around $4,000 to $6,000. Popular neighborhoods like Hyde Park and Channelside book especially fast during February and March.
Tampa offers diverse neighborhoods that each bring unique character to weddings. Ybor City is known for its historic charm with brick-lined streets and vintage architecture, perfect for couples wanting an urban, artsy vibe. Hyde Park features elegant, upscale venues surrounded by tree-lined streets and boutique shops, appealing to couples seeking classic sophistication. South Tampa provides easy access to waterfront locations along Tampa Bay with stunning sunset views. Channelside offers modern downtown venues with skyline views and proximity to the Tampa Riverwalk, ideal for contemporary celebrations. Westchase delivers suburban convenience with spacious facilities and ample parking. Based on Zola marketplace data, Tampa venues have a median starting price of around $6,300, with options ranging from about $3,500 to $10,000.
