I began my work as a barista when I moved to Chicago from Florida for my BFA. I fell in love with the energy of the city and of my little shop. From drink design to customer service to simple conversations that left all involved with a grin. Sadly, that little shop closed and I decided to make the move from coffee to cocktails. I spent the next year working my way from bar back to main bartender. With my new title came new adventures in event coordination, and cocktail design. Which brings us to today, where I have the privilege of working with couples to create unique drinks that have their guests coming back for more.

I named my business "The Voyaging Alchemist" because I love to create new drinks. My goal for every wedding is to create two drinks that no one could order at a regular bar, representing the couple so well guests are reminded of them with every sip. Because I love creating drinks so much, specialty cocktails are included in every package at no additional cost. No two events should be the same. It’s about more than just the drinks: it’s about bringing an experience to life for my clients. Amazing drinks, amazing customer service, and everything customized so you only pay for what you want.

Description

We focus on a custom-tailored experience for everyone, so you only pay for what you want. Starting with two custom specialty cocktails, created based on a series of questions I ask you, to represent you and your fiancé. Two bartenders, well-trained in customer service and knowledgeable in the art of mixology. Plus, we bring essentials like our bar tools, cups, napkins, straws, and ice. From here, you can decide what add-ons you'd like to truly have a unique and magical experience like no other.

    Highly recommend Voyaging Alchemist

    Voyaging Alchemist bartended my wedding and did a phenomenal job! They designed 3 custom cocktails for us (including 1 mocktail), which were designed to our tastes. The cocktails were so delicious, and we got a ton of compliments from our guests. They also set up a cold brew station for our guests, which was a nice touch. Prior to the wedding, Laura was available to answer our many questions, and they showed up to the wedding prepared with everything we could possibly need. I would highly recommend Voyaging Alchemist to anyone hiring bartending services for a wedding or other event.

    The best cocktails

    We loved working with the Voyaging Alchemist for our wedding!! Laura is so wonderfully easy to work with, is a very experienced bartender, and is very open to helping you achieve your vision. Bar service throughout the night was excellent. The best part though is the signature cocktails! They won’t be simple cocktails that everyone else has, these are truly one of a kind and made to fit you as a couple. She collected info about our likes and dislikes and gave us options we were able to try at a tasting. Our final cocktails were so delicious, we got tons of compliments on them from our guests who loved how different and unique they were! We would definitely hire them again in a heartbeat.

    100% recommend!

    We booked The Voyaging Alchemist to bartend our happily ever after wedding celebration and we couldn’t have been happier with their service! Laura was great at communicating and answering any and all questions we had. Prior to the event she learned what some of our favorite flavors and liquors were and created custom drinks for the night to celebrate as well as a sign for the bar, it was the talk of the night. Laura and Chris were our bartenders for the night and their energy and professionalism matched the event perfectly. They had fun and danced behind the bar, interacted with the guests, and came up with drinks on the fly for guests who wanted something special. They kept the bar area spotless and even organized the extra stuff for us at the end of the event. Our guests raved about our signature drinks (Laura’s creations) and we are now making them at home! I cannot say enough good things about this company. We will 100% use them for any bartending services in the future and highly recommend to anyone looking for beverage service!

    Laura with the voyaging alchemist saved our wedding day! We had a friend who was going to bartend for us and they dropped out less than 2 weeks before the weeding. The voyaging alchemist had bartenders available and did a great job! Everyone loved the drinks and enjoying interacting with the bartenders. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone for their wedding!

    RUN DONT WALK

    Let’s be real- good bartenders are a MUST when it comes to wedding planning. This service honestly was the highlight of my wedding, I kept hearing from my guests how great the drinks were and how friendly the service was. They come PREPARED and do an excellent job, they even made an incredible signature drink for each of us! Also if not everyone in your party drinks this is a GREAT option, because let me tell you the mocktail and coffee game is STRONG. If I had to plan all over again I would book them in a heartbeat!!

No, I know weddings and budgeting can be hard and stressful. I will work with your budget and come up with a payment plan to make your experience as easy as possible.
Yes! With all of my packages, I offered two custom drinks for each wedding. After sending you questions on your palate, I will create a couple of cocktails and send you the recipes. If you want to try them out, I can come over for a tasting and make the four drinks and you each get to choose one.
If my team is free, we are happy to be there whether you booked a month or a year in advance. For summer and fall weddings, we recommend at least 4 months out. Most book 8-10 months in advance.
No! Every package I have comes with two specialty cocktails for the couple. It doesn't matter how minimal your budget is, I will make drinks for both people in the couple because, honestly, its my favorite part.
In Illinois, you cannot obtain a liquor license without owning a building. Because I am unable to purchase the alcohol, I will provide you with a detailed list of the alcohol you will need. On the plus side, you can choose your favorite brands, and anything you purchase is yours to keep, so you won't have to worry about wasting your money.
I service Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. I am willing to go anywhere in Illinois but, if it is more than 50 miles there will be additional distance charges.
No! I have reusable plastic wear that looks like glass, so you can still have your martini glass without worrying about it shattering on the dance floor. I advocate for reusable cups because I know parties can quickly produce a lot of trash with single-use plastics, and I want to make eco-friendly as easy as possible for you.
