As the son of lifetime restaurateurs, Caleb Blackerby came home from college with a business degree and a great love of food. Using the kitchen at Blackerby’s Hangar 5 for over seven years, hundreds of weddings, thousands of corporate events - The First Class Catering team has refined a seamless service style that will make every event a success.

Choose another vendor
Sept 2026 bride. If I could go back and change out a vendor, this would be the one. We spent 5K on 72 adult plated meals and 4 kids meals. I don’t think it was worth half that. We did the tasting before signing with them. Food was so good. Unfortunately, it was a complete miss at the wedding and nothing like the tasting. Groom and I got served first and our food was cold throughout the plates. Some of our guests said the same later. The potatoes we were so excited to have again were so dry and tasteless that I gagged a bit when eating them. This was a common thing from guests, as well. One person at my parents table got the wrong meal. Which means someone elsewhere also got the wrong meal, even though we were required to have name cards with what each guest ordered on the table. I don’t understand that. The food was so immensely bland that I couldn’t eat my full plate though I hadn’t eaten much the whole day and was super hungry. The meatball appetizer was, again, extremely bland. I liked our crostini, but could tell it was a little crispier for me. Guests didn’t like it for that reason. Overall, the food was just..NOT good. It was a very basic meal, too. Chicken parm- you could tell this was frozen chicken, with canned marinara. No pasta with it. Cheese wasn’t even melted on anyone’s plates. Maple chili salmon was better, but it’s salmon with syrup poured over top and some chili flakes. Our squash was bland. The broccoli was salted and that salt truly carried the whole plate. We ate bit of broccoli with the other food to get it down. To make things worse, as if they could, I talked with the owner afterward and he apologized but had nothing else good to say. He told me restaurant or home cooked quality cannot be expected on this scale. Isn’t that exactly what catering is?! He very much made me feel stupid for expecting plated food to taste as good/better than like a bbq catering would and essentially I was paying more for the aesthetic of a plate of food being served vs having quality tasty food for everyone. No resolution was offered. So 5 THOUSAND dollars to feed 76 people ridiculously subpar food. You only get one wedding in your life. Trust someone else with your food. Seriously. So upsetting

Amazing!
We booked First Class Catering for our food and bartender for our wedding. The food was delicious and the drinks were great! I would definitely recommend them for any wedding. The price was really not bad for why we got and having both food and bartending services.

Bloomington Wedding
Great pricing and great bar service! The glassware and matte black place settings made our tables look amazing! Caleb and Rachel were great at communicating with us and they have a great client portal where you can view/sign contracts, message, and pay. They traveled to Bloomington for our wedding!

Amazing, delicious, classy!!
I cannot say enough good things. The food was delicious, the people were friendly and classy and the entire process was so easy. The wide selection made it so hard to narrow down my menu but what we ended up choosing was nothing short of perfect!! If you want delicious food with a great team behind it, choose first class!!
