I’m Michelle, the lead hairstylist/owner of Modest Medusa, a licensed Hairstylist based in Snohomish WA, I specializing in wedding hair. With 10 years of experience in the wedding industry, I’m passionate about providing a personalized & customized experience for each client. I truly love my craft! I travel to all corners of the PNW & beyond (seriously, I’m always up for an adventure!). While my favorite styles are soft & romantic, I’m always excited to take on alternative & edgy looks.

I only book one event per day because you deserve my full attention! Neither of us should feel rushed, especially with an already packed timeline. I pride myself on being transparent with my clients because I understand that not every hairstyle is right for every individual. I’ll offer my suggestions and work with you to ease any worries, ensuring we create a hair design that complements your attire, theme, and the weather. I may only do hair, but I believe that allows you to also find a makeup artist who stands out in their own specialty! Modest Medusa is inclusive and LGBTQ+ friendly, providing hairstyling services to everyone!

I do not offer makeup services, just hairstyling. However, I do find that that allows you to find a makeup artist you love, and this allows both professionals to thrive in their specialty!! :)

Michelle is so amazing and attentive! For years she has been my go to for keeping my hair looking beautiful, and if I need to be dolled up for an event. So of course I had to have her do my hair and my husband's for our wedding. I wouldn't trust anyone else because I know hands down she is the best and will be my ride or die through the hurdles of the wedding. And of course I was not disappointed. My hair was stunning and my morning went so smooth with her around. When I was panicking and nervous she kept me calm and had stuff ready for problems that popped up. She's truly incredible.

So glad I found Modest Medusa!
I can't recommend Michelle enough for your wedding hairstylist! From our first consult to the big day, she was fantastic. She communicated everything clearly and made me feel at ease. The consult was really nice because we could try a couple different styles and to see the possibilities so there were no surprises on the wedding day. She also provided a list of her preferred providers she has worked with for other services, making it less overwhelming to choose and giving a feeling of comfort knowing they are great people with the same level of of professionalism. On our wedding day, Michelle showed up calm and collected, She arrived on time with everything she needed, including a crochet hook for my dress! Everyone’s hair turned out beautiful and she was a very special part of our day. If you want a grounded, cool, organized, communicative and professional stylist for your wedding, Michelle is the best!

Michelle of Modest Medusa was so wonderful to work with for my wedding. From the first inquiry she was kind, communicative and professional. Her thoughtfulness and skill during my hair trial really helped me figure out what I did and did not want, and then when I ultimately decided to pivot the style a bit for my wedding day, she was flexible and graceful and asked all the right questions to make sure she knew exactly what I was envisioning. Not to mention she did an incredible job with all of my bridesmaids as well. I highly recommend her to anyone!

Wonderful dos and wonderful wedding
Michelle was so professional and great. We both went to her for our updos and had similar styles so she was wonderful about adding embellishments to make each of our individual hairstyles our own.

Michelle is so talented & a wonderful human being!
From the moment I connected with Michelle at Modest Medusa, I knew I was in good hands. She was organized, responsive via email and phone, and very easy to work with throughout the planning process. During my trial appointment, Michelle took her time understanding my natural curls and what I wanted for my big day. On my wedding day, she worked quickly and thoroughly even though I was running a bit behind schedule. She even helped me with my dress since I didn't have bridesmaids and needed dress tape! She has so much experience that she is prepared for anything! Michelle is a gem of a person and a lot of fun to work with! Her website and Instagram have great info and example photos. She also shared tons of useful vendor recommendations in the Snohomish and Seattle area. This was money well spent, and I'd recommend Michelle to any bride looking for a hairstylist who truly cares about making their day special!
