If you've ever felt awkward in photos, that's my favorite problem to solve. I'm Heather, a loose editorial wedding and elopement photographer, and I'll go anywhere you're getting married. Not because I have to. Because I want to. I give you real direction so you know exactly what to do, then I step back and let something true happen inside the frame. I can't fabricate moments, so I don't try. You get bold, stylish portraits and the real in-between stuff in the same gallery, and all of it still looks like you. I'm part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and every couple, every identity, every kind of love is welcome here because of that.

I spent years in hair and makeup before I ever picked up a camera, so making people feel good in front of a lens was the job long before the photography was. People who swear they're not photogenic find out that was never true. On a wedding day I'm part hype woman, part problem solver. When a heat wave hit one of my weddings, I scouted an indoor spot to keep the wedding party cool, and those became some of the couple's favorite photos. Most nights end in hugs, and more than once, an "I love you" on the way out. Wherever you say I do, I'll be there.

    Working with Heather was truly such a wonderful experience. From the very beginning, her communication was exceptional-timely, professional, and thoughtful every step of the way.     Look no further - hire Heather

    From the very first conversation, Heather of Allen Photography was a true joy to work with. Her communication style was upbeat, clear, and enthusiastic, putting us at ease throughout the entire process. Her work is editorial and timeless. Heather has such a wonderful vision and guided us through posing and shots - we aren't typically very comfortable in front of a camera, but she (metaphorically) really held our hand through it. Everyone in the wedding party and other vendors told us what a gem Heather is. She was a pleasure to work with from start to finish, making the whole process so easy. After our initial meeting, she checked in periodically until we got closer to the date, then she gave us a comprehensive questionnaire to make sure we got all the shots we wanted and met with us again to review it.     A special day made better

    My wife and I had a destination wedding. We were lucky enough to come across Heather, and we are more than thankful that we did. She took a special day and made it even more special. My style is loose editorial. I direct you with intention so you feel confident and know what to do, and then I back off and let real moments happen on their own. The result is a gallery that swings between bold, styled portraits and genuine in-between feelings. Nothing stiff, nothing over-posed, nothing that makes you look like someone else's wedding. Just you, looking like the best version of yourself on one of the best days of your life.
Over five years, and every single wedding still gets me. Before that I spent more than a decade in hair and makeup, which sounds unrelated until you realize that job was always about making people feel good in front of a mirror. Now it's a lens. Same instinct. I know how to get you comfortable, I know what to do when you don't know what to do with your hands, and I'll tell you the second something looks amazing. I can't imagine doing anything else.
If I've photographed there before, I'll already know the best light, the hidden spots, and how the day tends to flow through the space. If it's somewhere new, that's one of my favorite situations. I always research ahead of time, arrive early to walk the space, and approach every location like there's something great waiting to be found there. Whether you're getting married at a venue I know well or somewhere I've never set foot, the experience feels the same. You'll never feel like I'm figuring it out on the fly.

Yes, and it's my favorite part. I basically live out of a suitcase, and I love it. Desert, mountains, coastline, another country entirely. If you're getting married there, I want to be there too. Travel is already built into every quote, so there's no surprise line item later. The number you see is the number. Wherever you say I do, I'll be there. Just tell me where.
Most couples reach out 12 to 18 months ahead, especially for destination weddings. If your date is sooner, ask anyway. I take a limited number of weddings each year so I can show up fully for every one. The earlier we talk, the better the odds that your date is open.
You'll get a sneak peek within 48 hours. Your full gallery arrives in 6 to 8 weeks, and I edit every image myself. Nothing gets outsourced. Need it sooner? Rush delivery gets you your full gallery faster.
In the unlikely event something happens, I have a trusted network of photographers I know personally and professionally. I'd never leave a couple without coverage. I'd reach out immediately, brief them on your day and vision, and make sure someone who can deliver the same level of care shows up for you. This has never happened, but you deserve to know there's a plan.
On Film comes with two of us, standard. A second photographer can be added to First Edition or Cover to Cover, but if you're leaning that way on Cover to Cover, ask me about On Film first. You get two photographers plus film, so the upgrade gets you more. Elopements are always just me, on purpose, because every minute of that day belongs to the two of you. When I bring a second, it's someone I trust completely. I lead the day, and my second covers other angles and guest moments so nothing gets missed while I'm with you.
Low light and wild weather don't rattle me. I bring gear built for dark receptions and use flash in a way that still feels like your day. I've worked through heat waves and a 100-year rain, and my job is to handle it quietly so it never becomes your problem. Dramatic skies make great photos anyway.
Yes, every single one, by me. Nothing gets batch processed or outsourced. My edits stay clean and natural: true skin tones, no heavy filters, no over-airbrushing. You'll get a real mix of color and black and white, so you see your day both ways. What you see in my portfolio is exactly what you'll get in your gallery.
I focus solely on photography so I can give my full attention to your experience and gallery. I don't offer video, but I've worked alongside some great videographers and I'm happy to make recommendations. Photo and video should feel like they belong together, and I'll help you find someone whose style complements mine.
