Not someone who’s going to yell cut during your ceremony or give you exact directions on how to deliver your vows, but someone who will guide you on this super important day and deliver the photos you’ve been dreaming of. Whether it’s through my specific formulas for creating ideal timelines or managing your family for hassle-free group photos, you’ll experience this direction throughout wedding planning (Pre-Production), your wedding day (Principal Photography), and delivery (Post-Production).

Preserving your most meaningful moments as they unfold like scenes from a movie. With a background in filmmaking, my job is to approach your wedding like I would a film – balancing between the director and a fly-on-the-wall approach. My primary focus is on documenting all of the emotions in the room, that way in the end you get photos that reflect how the day felt, and not just what your shoes looked like.

    MISS MAYA PAYAYA SLAYS AZ WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

    I'm typing this review out after just receiving ONLY my engagement and courthouse photos and where do I even begin???? So let's take it from the top now y'all!! When we first came across Miss Maya Papaya, I was initially hooked because a) that's a cute rhyme of a name. b) anyone with a rhyme gotta be DIVINE!!! And instincts proved correct because even at our first consultation, Maya was beyond warm, she IMMEDIATELY made my now husband and I feel so comfortable and the vibes were so naturally vibing we could not NOT have her as our photographer!!! Her organization and thoughtfulness when planning out our shoots for the engagement went above and beyond! And once again when we got to the shoot, the vibes OFF THE CHAIN!!! As two normally very shy people, we were jazzing, we were dancing, and just having a great time and as a result were the most beautiful and BEYOND GORGEOUS shots we've ever seen! We tell ourselves we're such dorks and not at all photogenic, but seeing Maya's craft in getting those sweet candid shots...jaws on the FLOOR!!! And then the fun continued for our courthouse photoshoot!! Once again, Maya's energy was beyond infectious that even our wedding party, who are also naturally introverted, come out in ways that was matching the energy and vibe of the day!! And once again, jaws on the FLOOR SLAY THE HOUSE DOWN HOUSTON I AM DECEASED with what came out of it!! And keep in mind at the time of writing this we only have the highlights of these photos. But beyond this, her presence during the wedding ceremony throughout the day was UNMATCHED!! All of our family and friends were so captivated by her energy, her laugh was so infectious, her connection to other people just blows my mind. She really makes you feel like one of the family no matter what groups of life you come from. She is THAT GIRL!!! From the very bottom of our hearts, thank you so so so so SO MUCH for literally making our days so incredibly memorable. Thank you for capturing our best moments and helping us relive one of the best days of our lives!! Truly you're getting more than just a photographer with Maya, you are getting an absolute treasure of a human being who will make your day feel as beautiful and joyous as it absolutely should be.     Maya Is SIMPLY THE BEST

    We hired Maya Papaya Pictures on about a month’s notice after our first photographer backed out, and I’m so grateful we found her. Maya was warm, professional, and calm, even with a mix of family, friends, and small kids at our courthouse wedding. She made everyone comfortable and got us all cooperating, which is not easy with my parents. We got sneak peeks fast and our full gallery on schedule. Our portraits around downtown and in front of the Orpheum Theatre turned out beautifully. My parents are still raving about her. Five stars, and I’d book her again in a heartbeat!

    Maya made our day perfect!

    Working with Maya as our wedding photographer was an incredible delight! She has so much enthusiasm that it is impossible not to feel at ease and smile when working with her, even when you feel awkward taking lovey dovey photos! She is understanding and flexible, we had a few scheduling snafus on my end and she still made the effort to meet with us. She took amazing photos at our wedding and was incredibly efficient. I got to fully enjoy my wedding and cocktail hour without having to stop for a million photos, which was wonderful. My family loved her as well, she took charge and got everyone where they needed to be, right on cue. She takes the most amazing candid photos, which was one of the reasons I was drawn to her work in the first place. I adore Maya and hope I get to work with her again for all my professional photography needs.

    FANTASTIC PHOTOGRAPHER

    I CANNOT RAVE ENOUGH ABOUT HOW FANTASTIC WORKING WITH MAYA WAS FOR OUR WEDDING! Maya was dependable, detail-oriented, and you could tell she was truly focused on capturing us organically as a couple. Plus, she’s a hoot and holler! Typically, couples book me about 13 months before their wedding date. I encourage you to reach out as soon as possible about my availability, even if you’re planning on a shorter time frame.
Definitely. All final images will be edited for color, saturation, exposure, and sharpness to ensure they look beautiful. I also offer retouching services like blemish removal and teeth whitening for an additional charge.
There will always be an option to add-on a second photographer, although some packages might have one included already! I’m extremely comfortable photographing weddings alone, however, there are of course many advantages to having an extra set of eyes and camera during your day. The main advantage being the ability to be in two places at once during the entire day, 2 viewpoints during the ceremony, and cocktail hour coverage during couple portraits, etc). Ultimately, this decision depends on your personal preference, wedding timeline, and other details. We can talk through it all together :)
Yes, I contract the video shooting to a trusted vendor but I do the video editing.
My turnaround time varies by season. Typically, you’ll be able to view your photos online about 10-12 weeks after your wedding. Within this time, you can also expect an online gallery with high-resolution image files, so you can share the photos with your loved ones and order prints.
You can expect about 50 to 100 images per hour of photographing. But keep in mind this estimate varies depending on your wedding package, number of guests, venue type, and other factors.
I do! Just let me know if your venue requires a certificate of liability, and I’ll send that over to them.
In my 10 years of experience as a wedding photographer, I’ve never canceled a booking. In the very rare event that I’m unable to photograph your wedding, I’ll make sure you’re covered by one of my colleagues or my contracted assistant. I’ll also provide you with a list of photographers from the many networking groups I’m in, so you can find the perfect replacement.
