About Sarah James Photography
Sarah James
My name is Sarah James Middleton, and I am a Wedding and Boudoir Photographer located in the DMV area. My husband, Jack, and I shoot as a team to capture your day & the authentic energy of your guests & union. Using film and digital photography, we strive to capture your moments with candid authenticity and true to life colors. We believe in giving you the full package with all of the colors and emotion of your day.
A graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, I have spent the past few years working in weddings in Baltimore and beyond; shooting over 300 weddings in the 7 years since becoming a full time wedding photographer. My work is a mix of styles. I tend to lean towards editorial & timeless for portraits and then stepping into a more documentary role for the ceremony and reception. I shoot both 35mm film and digital photos.

Great photos
Sarah made the whole experience comfortable and stress-free. She knew exactly how to capture the moments that mattered without making us feel awkward, and her 6-hour package gave us the perfect amount of coverage. What really impressed us was how she included film alongside the digital photos, and adding the content creator option meant we got every angle we wanted. Sarah was warm and responsive throughout our planning process, and when we saw the preview gallery, we couldn't believe how talented she is. We would absolutely recommend her to any couple looking for a photographer who truly listens to what you need.

I love love love all the photos we got! So many were artfully done! They are very through with listening to your ideas and wants in photographs. They also adapt if the weather is less than ideal (like how our wedding ended up being rained on).

From our engagement session to our wedding day, Sarah James Photography exceeded what we thought was possible. She has a gift for making people feel at ease in front of the camera—my husband, who usually dreads photos, actually enjoyed the process and looked genuinely happy in every shot. Sarah worked efficiently during our reception, snapping group photos so fast that our guests could get back to celebrating within minutes. We were also really impressed us with her turnaround time. We received our engagement photos by end of day and our wedding gallery came back in what felt like record time. Working with Sarah felt less like hiring a vendor and more like collaborating with a close friend. Her mix of digital, film, and Polaroid photography has left us with a truly unique representation of our wedding day. The Polaroids allowed us to immediately have a keepsake which was so important to us. We're so grateful she captured our vision so perfectly, and we'd hire her again in a heartbeat.

You can’t find a better duo!
We knew we wanted to book Sarah from my first call with her. She was friendly, informative, and professional. She gave me tons of photos to look for to help me pick out my overall vision for my wedding photos. When the big day came, she did a great job directing the guests during family photos and made sure my husband and I were comfortable. I couldn’t have asked for a better husband/wife team to take my wedding photos. And the quantity of photos she returned to us was HUGE! It took me several days to go through and appreciate every single one! I want to work with her again soon! (We also booked her for engagement photos and they are just as beautiful!)
