    North Cascades Elopement

Malachi was so great to work with! I interviewed a few photographers before deciding on him and one big factor was that he set aside 2 days for the wedding in case of bad weather or other delays. Most photographers will give you one day and if things go wrong you’re out of luck. Because he set aside two days, we were able to do sunset after the ceremony and sunrise the next morning. This avoided letting my husband see me before the ceremony which I think was special. Malachi was very organized and sent me a vendor recommendation list as well as planned out our whole wedding based on what I said I wanted. He sent me a timeline beforehand and we stuck to it almost exactly. The hikes he recommended were amazing and the views were just incredible. Couldn’t have asked for more. Malachi gave us sneak peeks the day we finished which was awesome! The photos turned out amazing and were just what I hoped for. Overall I would definitely recommend Malachi for all of your elopement photos!

Elopement (Moab, UT) - Shell Creek Photo

We had an incredible elopement photography experience with Malachi. My husband and I had been going back and forth on whether to do a "traditional" wedding or an elopement. We were nervous it wouldn't be as "private" with just a photographer and us. But we were so pleasantly surprised by how much fun and laughter we had - Malachi made it such a relaxed environment! He also provided moments/planned with us ahead of time when to give us the space for our vows and reading letters from our friends and family. We felt like he hit a bullseye by blending what we were wanting to shoot in Moab, and what he felt like was feasible for a 4-hour session. He was so knowledgable of the area, and he really made sure all of the boxes were checked before the big day so we were simply waking up and getting ready and could feel 100% excited and 0% stressed. And best of all... our pictures made us tear up when we saw them, I will forever have a memory of when we looked at them together on the couch for the first time. We simply could not believe how spectacular they were. We cannot recommend Malachi enough to photograph your special day! A million thank you's to Malachi!

    Incredible photographer and person

Malachi was phenomenal. Choosing him for our adventure elopement/micro wedding ended up being far more meaningful than simply hiring a photographer (though he’s an extraordinarily gifted one). At first, his photos drew us in (especially his breathtaking night sky star shots, one of his specialties). But what sealed the deal was his professionalism, warmth, kindness, and overall expertise. It was immediately clear that working with him would ensure the wedding experience we had always dreamed of. His photos are nothing short of spectacular. We honestly doubted ours could live up to the stunning examples he shared, yet somehow he managed to make ours even more incredible. From starry night portraits to vast landscapes, intimate candid moments, and detailed close-ups, he’s a true master of his art. In every environment he has a creative vision, and following it allows him to capture moments that feel both authentic and magical. And even in rugged locations, he ensures you feel safe. From our first Zoom chat to planning meetings and emails along the way, his communication was consistently clear, timely, and helpful. His website, client portal, and custom PDF guides are beautifully designed and immensely useful. Despite a packed travel calendar, he always made time for quick calls when we needed to go over plans or ask questions. He strikes the perfect balance, offering direction when you want it but also stepping back to let you take the lead when you prefer. A big part of what makes his process so seamless is how intentional it is. We filled out several fun and thoughtful questionnaires that helped all of us clarify the intended vision for our day. Afterward, he sent a personalized location list tailored to our preferences. From this, we selected the perfect ceremony spot and a few additional photo locations. One of Malachi’s greatest strengths is his deep familiarity with the outdoors and his ability to uncover incredible, lesser-known locations for ceremonies and portraits. He’s constantly exploring and expanding his list of amazing spots so that every couple can craft a day that’s uniquely theirs. In our case, we wanted to visit several different landscapes over multiple days, including places accessible for our grandparents while still feeling remote and private, and Malachi made it all happen seamlessly. Above all though, his most valuable quality is simply who he is. Malachi is kind, easygoing, thoughtful, and genuinely fun to spend time with. For an elopement or intimate gathering, that matters so much. From the moment we met up with him in Utah, it felt like a friend had joined us, not just someone we’d hired. Traveling between photo spots and having him at our family dinner felt natural and fun. By the end of the day, every family member had connected with him. He’s a rare and wonderful person. One especially moving example was that during a short break between our morning and afternoon activities, he managed to fully edit and create a stunning preview slideshow/album of our photos from that day, which he surprised us with during pre-dinner happy hour. It brought us to tears and was such a great way to start the evening. In short: we recommend Malachi wholeheartedly and without any reservations. Whether you’re planning an adventure elopement, a micro wedding, or something entirely unique, he’ll make it happen and will surpass your every expectation. Working with him was an absolute joy. He’s truly one of a kind.

    Beyond talented and attentive

Something that struck me was how attentive and comforting Malachi was to the bride and groom, as well as family/guests. He is aware of other people’s needs by observing and quick to support or lend a hand. He seemed up for anything, had a gentle natural way of making suggestions, very kind, warm, comforting smiles, easy to be with all day, he really guided the bride and groom with advice on timing, locations, photo positions etc. prior to and day of. We got to see a sneak peak of photos that day- and we’re blown away. He’s incredibly talented and goes the extra mile. I want to find a reason for him to come take photos again. Can’t say enough good things- he’s worth every penny. You’ll want to frame all of your photos:)

    Absolute perfection

We had the absolute pleasure of working with Malachi from Shellcreek Photo for our wedding, and we can’t recommend him enough! From the very first meet and greet, he was incredibly professional, taking the time to ask us about what we wanted for our wedding day. His dedication to capturing our wedding was exactly as we imagined was evident throughout the entire process. As someone who had never had professional photos taken before, I was quite nervous about being in front of the camera. However, Malachi put both me and my husband at ease throughout the day. His calm and reassuring presence made us feel so comfortable, and it felt like we were simply enjoying the moment rather than posing for photos. On top of that, Malachi has an incredible eye for detail and a knack for finding unique, off-grid locations that made our photos feel so special and personalized. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does, and that passion shines through in every photo he takes. We couldn’t be happier with our choice and the beautiful photos we received!
