We’re Mark and Brittany Edman, the husband-and-wife team behind This Insane Idea Photography. Brittany was the one who encouraged Mark to take his lifelong love of photography full time. It sounded like an insane idea at the time, but documenting weddings quickly became the work we love most. Mark photographs the day as it unfolds: the big emotions, the quiet moments, and everything in between. Brittany brings 20 years of hospitality experience to helping couples feel cared for and keeping the day flowing. Together, we get to know you and the people you love so you can feel comfortable, stay present, and enjoy your wedding. Our approach is simple: nothing added, nothing taken away. Your story, captured as it felt.
We always joke around and say you can throw a rock and find a good photographer, but what makes us different is that in addition to amazing photos, is an equally great experience. We have an extreme familiarity with exceeding expectations helping plan your wedding from the day you say "I do" to This Insane Idea. We get to know you and your families and ensure everyone feels appreciated on your wedding day.

ROMCOM TYPE PHOTOS!
From the very first meeting, we had a great feeling about Mark and Brittany!! Choosing our photographers was one of the most important decisions to us, and as someone who can be extremely indecisive, it was hard times a million. We met with many photographers and loved a lot of their work, but there was something about Mark and Brittany that helped make our decision more than clear. They were fun, kind, listened to our vision while collaborating with us and adding their input, and made the process smoother than I could've ever imagined. Your photographers are with you from start to finish on your wedding day, and it truly felt like they were our friends along for the process and sharing in our joy! They made us feel so comfortable at our engagement shoot and then we had the best time at the wedding! There work speaks for itself. The pictures came back unbelievably beautiful and we could not have been happier. When we went through our album we truly felt like we were transporting back in time to the best day of our lives! They captured all the emotion, joy, fun, and love perfectly! In the few staged and the million candid!!! Also looking at the reels and content was so exciting as well! Cannot recommend these two, and Tom, enough!!!

Dream wedding photographers!
It was an absolute pleasure to have This Insane Idea photograph not only our entire wedding weekend in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but also our engagement in New York City two years earlier. I have a close relationship with Mark and Brittany, the founders of This Insane Idea, so it would be easy to assume that’s why we chose them. The reality is that I have always been incredibly impressed by Mark and his team’s talent behind the camera, as well as Brittany’s knowledge of wedding planning and understanding of how a wedding day should flow. I truly could not have asked for a better photography team. Throughout our wedding weekend, everything felt completely under control and according to plan. We captured all of the photographs that mattered to us without ever feeling like the photography took us away from actually experiencing the weekend. I was especially impressed by the way Mark worked with our friends and family. So many people told us afterward how comfortable they felt, including family members who normally aren’t at ease in front of a camera. Mark gives clear direction while still making everything feel natural and relaxed, and that really comes through in the photographs. As a bride, photography was truly the last thing I had to worry about because I knew Mark and his team had it handled. We received sneak peeks almost immediately, and our full gallery came back incredibly quickly. I also really appreciated how receptive Mark and Brittany were to our ideas and how closely they listened to our vision. As a professional designer, I was very involved in the creative direction of our entire wedding and naturally had thoughts about the photography as well. They listened to my perspective while bringing their own expertise and creativity, and the result felt completely aligned with what we had envisioned. Most importantly, they beautifully captured not just how our wedding looked, but the people and moments that made the weekend so special. Our friends and family were just as thrilled with the photographs as we were. We are incredibly grateful to Mark, Brittany, and the entire This Insane Idea team for documenting both our engagement and wedding so beautifully. We truly could not recommend them more to any couple looking for a photography team they can completely trust with such an important time in their lives.

10/10 Would Recommend Over and Over Again!
We are about a month away from our wedding day and we cannot stop talking about how magical it all was! Mark, Brittany, and Tom were a dream to work with and were a big part in the day running smoothly. About a year prior to the wedding, we had our engagement session done by Mark and he makes you feel so at ease, especially since we had never had professional pictures taken of us like this. His documentary-style photography was exactly what we had been looking for. Throughout our year-long wedding planning process, this team was very professional, organized, and experienced. When it came to our wedding day, This Insane Idea was not even on our list of worries. They made sure we were comfortable and informed every step of the way. They were also very responsive. We had to make a game time decision to deal with potential spring showers and Brittany responded right away to help us decide on how to shift gears. On the day of, it was really important to us that we had some photographs of us outside and they worked with the small pockets of no rain to sneak us outside. They also had the experience to know how to expertly pivot to us taking photographs primarily inside and still capturing the sweet moments. They are first and foremost a photography company, but they have a deep knowledge of the wedding industry and took on roles outside of just photographing our day. They were not just our photographers, they were our sounding boards, our cheerleaders, our family wranglers. We cannot recommend them enough!

If you are looking for an incredible photography team here you go. From the moment we inquired Mark has been amazing. He worked with our budget, answered all my countless questions, and stayed in contact more than any other vendor. At our engagement session he immediately made us comfortable and made an effort to actually connect with us. I couldnt have asked for a better more involved coordinator. Brittany responded to all my questions with kindess and excitement. On our wedding day she kept everything moving, organized, and made sure we didn't miss any of the moments that were important to us. Tom was amazing as well and kept my husband calm and laughing on the morning of the wedding. This is a team that will support you and cherish your day just as much as you do.
