    HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE

Our experience with the Indiana Statehouse was, quite honestly, horrific from beginning to end. What should have been one of the most exciting and meaningful experiences of our lives became an incredibly stressful process, and the way we were treated by the staff ultimately made an already difficult wedding day even harder. We booked the Indiana Statehouse approximately 1.5 years in advance, believing that booking that far ahead would give us plenty of time to plan and ensure everything was properly organized. Unfortunately, that was not our experience at all. From the beginning, our interactions with Tobi were extremely frustrating. Tobi was consistently rude and unprofessional and repeatedly called me the wrong name for months. I corrected him multiple times, yet he continued to do it. At a certain point, it no longer felt like an innocent mistake, but rather something intentional and disrespectful. As a paying client planning such an important event, I should never have had to repeatedly ask someone to simply address me by my correct name. Then, our point of contact quit, and we received little to no communication about what that meant for our wedding or who would be handling our event moving forward. Communication was already difficult, and the transition only made things more confusing. The most unbelievable part came ONE MONTH before our wedding date, when we were told that our wedding date was not actually secured. We had booked the Statehouse approximately 1.5 years in advance and had signed contracts and provided the requested information. To find out just one month before our wedding that there was apparently uncertainty about whether our date was even secured was absolutely unacceptable and caused an enormous amount of unnecessary stress. Even worse, it became very clear that the staff did not have a basic understanding of our wedding. Despite the contracts we had signed and information we had provided, they seemingly knew very little about our ceremony or rehearsal. We repeatedly had to explain information that should have already been documented and understood by the venue. We were treated as though we were an inconvenience rather than paying clients who had planned an event with them well in advance. The disrespect and lack of professionalism continued on our actual wedding day. Kevin did not properly allow our processional music to play. As a result, I walked down the aisle in complete silence. Imagine spending months and months planning your wedding ceremony, carefully selecting the music you want to walk down the aisle to, only to have that moment completely ruined because the venue staff did not properly execute something as basic as playing the processional music. This was not simply a matter of a few minor mistakes. It was a pattern of poor communication, disorganization, disrespect, and an apparent lack of care for our wedding and our experience. Our wedding day was already difficult for personal reasons, and the additional stress caused by the Statehouse made it significantly harder. A venue hosting weddings should understand how important these moments are to couples and should do everything possible to make the process smooth and reassuring. Instead, we spent an unreasonable amount of time worrying about whether our date was even secured, whether staff knew what was happening, and whether the details we had carefully planned would actually be carried out.

    Wedding

The Indiana Statehouse was the perfect choice for our wedding venue. From the moment we started planning, the team led by Tracey, Tobi and Tim was incredibly prompt, professional and responsive. The venue itself is truly elegant, historic and spacious - providing a truly memorable backdrop for our special day. They set everything up for us and even allowed us to come in the day before to add our own special touches. The entire process was made so easy thanks to the incredible staff. We highly recommend the Indiana Statehouse to any couple looking for a stunning and historic wedding venue.

    Micro Wedding Dream

The Indiana Statehouse was a wonderful venue for our wedding day. Their communication throughout the planning process was timely and responsive, which we greatly appreciated. The venue itself provided beautiful photography opportunities, with its grand architecture and quiet, spacious interiors. We had 30 guests and were able to have our ceremony there for free, as long as everyone stood - which worked out perfectly. Definitely communicate with the event coordinator beforehand. The Indiana Statehouse team was accommodating of our needs and helped make our special day run smoothly from start to finish.

    The Perfect Historic Venue

The Indiana Statehouse did a wonderful job hosting our wedding! They were willing to accommodate our wedding with only a 3 week notice after Covid ruined our initial wedding plans, which meant so much to us. Tracy & Terry were very personable and quick to communicate with us, which eased a lot of our planning stress. Not to mention that our wedding pictures are phenomenal thanks to the beautiful architecture on the inside! I felt like a princess in a fairytale when I walked down the marble staircase. We highly recommend the Statehouse if you are looking for a beautiful and affordable wedding!
