We are disappointed to read this review, particularly considering the many accommodations we made throughout your wedding weekend. We believe prospective couples deserve an accurate understanding of the circumstances. Financial Records: All payments were properly documented. When a question arose concerning additional chair charges clearly outlined in our contract, we reviewed our records, confirmed they had not been paid, and chose to waive them. Facility Cleanliness: The reception building was clean when your wedding party arrived Friday. Leaves accumulated while the large overhead door and French doors remained open during decorating and other activities. Cleaning resulting from a group’s use of the facility is their responsibility. Wedding Coordination: Clark’s Lakeside provides the venue and contracted amenities, while couples manage their own vendors and wedding activities. We strongly recommend a dedicated day-of coordinator and provide professional options through our recommended vendor list. In this instance, the bride chose to coordinate her own wedding. We were not involved in vendor scheduling or provided an itinerary, yet we assisted with vendor communications when questions arose. Hospitality: We strongly disagree with the characterization of our treatment of the wedding party. We provided an additional rental day at no charge, allowed access four hours earlier than contracted, loaned tablecloths and personal items, and helped move a large ceremony decoration—all outside our contractual obligations. Vendor Placement: No vendors were required to set up outside. An outdoor bar location was suggested for practical reasons, but the decision remained entirely with the couple. We were pleased to receive positive feedback from guests who enjoyed the celebration and appreciated the beauty of our property. At Clark’s Lakeside, we take pride in offering couples the freedom to create their own unique wedding experience. With that freedom comes responsibility for the planning, coordination, and execution of their celebration. It is important to distinguish challenges arising from independently managed wedding arrangements from a failure by the venue to deliver its contracted services. We stand behind the facilities, services, and hospitality we provided throughout this wedding weekend.
