    Not Trustworthy

If you’re considering having your wedding at Common House (now The Landing Social House), I strongly encourage you to reconsider. As a former member of Common House who chose this venue for one of the most important days of our lives, I cannot begin to express how disappointing our experience was. In fact, our experience was so frustrating that I ultimately canceled my membership altogether. What should have been an exciting wedding planning process turned into an absolute logistical nightmare due to poor communication, a lack of professionalism, and repeated attempts to impose additional charges and requirements. Throughout the planning process, we were passed from the Director of Sales, Lauren, to one event manager and then another, creating confusion, inconsistent communication, and a complete lack of continuity. It often felt as though no one was taking ownership of our event, leaving us to repeatedly clarify details that should have been handled internally. We also encountered multiple situations involving charges and requirements that were either not clearly communicated or not included in the contract. KNOW YOUR CONTRACT DETAILS!!! Another particularly frustrating issue involved valet parking. We hosted an Indian/American wedding with multiple events throughout the day, which is precisely why we invested in a full house buyout. Despite knowing our schedule from the beginning, Common House required us to arrange valet exclusively through them, then established the valet schedule without ever consulting us. Unsurprisingly, the schedule did not accommodate our events or our guests’ needs. Rather than working collaboratively with us, they created yet another unnecessary logistical issue that we were left to resolve. Perhaps the most upsetting part was that just TWO DAYS before our wedding, I was on the phone with the General Manager, Keytoya, trying to resolve issues involving Lauren. Instead of enjoying the final days leading up to our wedding, I was still advocating for myself and addressing problems that should never have reached that point. It was incredibly stressful, completely unnecessary, and unacceptable for a venue that markets itself as a luxury event space. I do want to give credit where it’s due: Keytoya was absolutely amazing. She was professional, understanding, and genuinely made us feel heard. She was a bright spot in an otherwise incredibly frustrating experience, and I truly appreciated her willingness to step in and help. Unfortunately, it should never have taken escalating our concerns to the General Manager just 48 hours before our wedding to receive that level of care and customer service. What makes this experience especially disappointing is that I genuinely loved Common House and wanted to support the business. I was already a paying member and was excited to celebrate our wedding there. Instead, the experience was so poor that I ultimately canceled my membership. A beautiful venue does not make up for poor communication, a lack of accountability, or the unnecessary stress placed on a couple just days before their wedding. If you’re considering Common House for your wedding, please look beyond the beautiful photos and carefully consider the team you’ll be trusting with one of the most important days of your life. I wish someone had warned us! And know your contract!!
