LaMar Films

My name is Preston LaMar, founder and filmmaker behind LaMar Films. Before stepping behind the camera, my background was in theatre and acting, where I spent years studying performance, lighting, sound, set design, wardrobe, and storytelling. That experience shaped the way I approach weddings today. I don’t see a wedding as an event to simply document. I see the people, setting, music, atmosphere, and emotion as the pieces of a film waiting to be made. I’m based in Santa Cruz, California and film weddings throughout Carmel, Monterey, Big Sur, Napa, Sonoma, Lake Tahoe, and destinations worldwide.

No two LaMar Films are meant to look the same. Every couple has a different story, and I build each film around it. The cinematography, music, pacing, color, format, and creative direction are chosen specifically for that wedding. Some films are elegant and timeless. Others are nostalgic, unconventional, adventurous, or cinematic. Each even receives its own custom movie poster, because I want the finished piece to feel like your film, not another version of someone else’s. I intentionally take on a limited number of weddings so I can give each film the time, attention, and creative freedom it deserves.
