“My husband and I just got married at The Refuge a few weeks ago, and we could not have asked for a more perfect wedding venue! Our entire weekend from the rehearsal dinner, getting ready in the bridal suite, the ceremony, dinner, and the reception was absolutely amazing. The venue, wedding ceremony location, bridal suite, and banquet area are all incredibly beautiful. The breakfast and lunch we had in the bridal suite getting ready, and the dinner during our reception was phenomenal. We served oven roasted chicken and fresh salmon, our guests are still talking about how great the food was! Our wedding was everything we could have dreamed of and more, and we cannot thank our wedding coordinator, Lisa, and the rest of the Refuge staff for making our wedding the best weekend of our entire lives! If we could do it all over again, we would absolutely choose The Refuge!!! 10/10!”

In 1910, President Taft signed the bill to establish Glacier National Park as the country’s 10th national park. Mr. Healy was given a plumbing contractor for the train depot here in St. Paul, where he met Samuel Bartlett, the architect of many of the railroad depots and Glacier National Park Lodge. Healy then commissioned Bartlett to renovate and enlarge the house. In 1914, the farm was sold to John Healy, the owner of Healy Plumbing and Heating Company of St. Paul. Mr. Healy’s company became closely tied to the Great Northern Railroad, as it provided the heating and plumbing for many of the train depots that were being built around the country at that time. The farm was named Hope Glen Farm, the name of John Healy’s mother’s maiden name of Hope, and the house settles in a Glen, thus Hope Glen.

When we first started planning our wedding, our biggest fear was finding a venue that would try to nickel and dime us throughout the process. Pleasant Pastures is the complete opposite of that. The services, amenities, and pricing were very clearly laid out, and we felt we received an incredible amount of value. Having access to their decorations and grain bin bar was invaluable and helped make our wedding feel truly special. From our experience, Mindi and Samuel were there for us every step of the way. They were always willing to answer questions, offer suggestions, and help with the little details that can become overwhelming when planning a wedding. Most importantly, we never felt like just another couple renting their venue. They genuinely cared about making our day special. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, and our guests had nothing but great things to say about it. Looking back, choosing Pleasant Pastures was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding.
