Anna, First of all, CONGRATULATIONS to you and Alphonsus! Thank you so much for sharing your feedback. We won’t make any “excuses”, but you deserve that each item is properly addressed. • Your wedding was on the single busiest week we ever had with 41 events. Some events had major location changes. Looking at our emails leading up to your wedding day, we had at least 5 back and forth, all replied to within 24 hours. • It’s common practice for the DJ to check with the couple prior to any formalities to make sure they are ready (intros, 1st dance, toasts, cake cutting, parent dances). The interactions should be quick. • The reason we request a 6’ table, which is standard for DJ, is that the speakers should be at least 6’ apart and the table covers the wires and prevents tripping hazards. Many DJs use a façade aka “DJ wall” to hide the lack of equipment. The downsizing from big mixers to computers started about 10 years ago, but the 6’ table is more for sound and safety than aesthetic quality. • Every wedding gets a ton of requests … some will help the dance floor, others will hurt it. Our policy is to ALWAYS take a request (no one is denied). The DJs response should be something like “I’ll see if I have it, I’ll try to get to it, etc”. After that, the DJ makes sure it’s not on the couples “Do Not Play” list and more importantly determines if it will help the dance floor or kill the vibe. DJ Dan said your floor was packed all night. A good DJ makes it look easy, but sometimes it’s the fact they determined what is played. Ironically, Al’s Uncle John emailed DJ Dan yesterday raving about how good he was!
