JR Music Collective

JR Music Collective got its start with the simple idea of live music and DJ service from one vendor caught on across the region and the company began adding more musician/DJs to its roster. Oregon Bride Magazine first recognized JR Music Collective with an award in 2013. The collective has gone on to win awards every year since. We have a talented group of musicians and DJs waiting to make your day wonderful.

We offer both live music and DJ/MC. Our couples do not need to choose between the two or hire more than one vendor to get the vision they are looking for. Our all inclusive packages include all the couple's sound needs covered for the day. Mics for officiant, vows, and toasts as well as options for live ceremony and cocktail and DJ/MC services for the reception.

    John Ross and team are AMAZING!!

    John and his team were amazing every step of the way. We had our initial conversation and it immediately felt like we were working with a friend in all the best ways. John’s pricing was very transparent, and he went above and beyond to make our day possible. We had a private property wedding (that wasn’t easy to turn into a venue) and he had a solution to every curveball we had when it came to lighting, sound, power, and multiple guest areas that needed sound at our wedding. He listened to us and what we wanted out of the day and I can confirm I never left the dance floor. He understood our vibe from classical ceremony, to oldies hits at cocktail hour, to EDM on the dance floor. I would 100000% recommend him to any of my family or friends.

    If you want the best, you need John!!!

    My wife and I cannot recommend John enough. He made the day go by so smoothly from live music at the ceremony to impromptu games at the reception. His MC skills were so amazing, we got so many compliments for him. He is professional, friendly, and great to work with throughout all parts of wedding planning to day-of. Of all my vendors, he was the easiest to work with and was open to our ideas. He even sent two samples of a live rendition of Risk It All for us to choose from. Pick him if you want the best!

    JR Collective is the Best!

    Working with John and his team was amazing. He helping us execute the day as we had planned and helped solve challenges as it relates to getting power out to the dance floor. He was very professional but also fun to work with. The day wouldn’t have been the same without him and I can’t recommend him enough.

    Blake is amazing

    Blake is awesome - but so were the rest of the team. Truly they are the ones to go with if you're choosing between folks. Highly recommend if you can get in early enough to book! Blake specifically was incredible and we had him do live music and DJ for our wedding. 10 out of 10.

    Amazing Decision!

    John was the best decision we made - he led the entire evening from setting up the ceremony to directing every guest, dance, and speaker throughout the evening. He was incredible to work with - we met before the wedding and he knew what we wanted even better than we did. His live portions were highlights of the evening, he’s so talented and knows so many hits. And he kept the party going all night, keeping the action alive and respecting the vibe we were going for. HIGHLY recommend!

Absolutely! Each of our musicians has a setlist listing all the songs he currently knows/performs. Our musicians are always learning new material so we do our best to keep the lists online updated. Clients can hire their musician to learn and perform a song not currently on their list for a small fee. Our current rate to learn and perform a song of your choosing is $50/song.
Yes, our couples are in complete control of the music for their day.
Yes, both. We offer a choice of live or DJ'd music.
We offer a range of live music from our team members setlists - each of them have unique specialties. We offer any style music when DJ'd.

Our team members like to show up around two and a half hours prior to start time to set up all gear for the day to move seamlessly with the guests throughout the day.
We do have wireless LED up lights available as an add on to our packages.
We travel outside of Portland in the Oregon and Washington area. We charge fifty cents per mile and when applicable a lodging/overnight fee.
We don't attend rehearsals for two reasons: 1) our staff is often working other weddings/events during the time the rehearsal is scheduled and we’re simply not able to make it to rehearsals from a scheduling standpoint. 2) With our experience and by asking a few questions we can gather the info we need to make our song transitions to fit the moment when people are walking.
