Great weddings are not built from a copy & paste playlist. They’re built around you, your guests, and the moments everyone remembers. Jose The DJ Events provides wedding DJ and MC services for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and receptions, with personalized music planning, an online planning portal, professional sound, dance floor lighting, and clear announcements. Uplighting and a digital photo booth are available. Based in Norfolk, VA, I’ve DJed weddings since 2010 across Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Williamsburg, and all of Hampton Roads. I also travel (travel fees and accommodations may apply). Fully insured, with clear pricing upfront.

When you book Jose The DJ Events, you get me. No sales team, no substitute DJ. The person you plan with is the same person behind the DJ booth. I take a limited number of weddings each year so every couple gets my full attention. I learn your vision, pronounce every name correctly, build your timeline with you, and coordinate with your venue and vendors. Once the party starts, I read the room and keep guests of all ages dancing. I reply to every inquiry within 24 hours, and you’ll have direct access to me from planning through the last dance.

My most popular experience, with music and sound covered from your walk down the aisle to the last dance. I handle ceremony audio with a wireless mic for your officiant and toasts, cocktail hour music, and reception DJ and MC service, with separate sound if your ceremony and reception are in different spots. My most complete experience: every moment covered for up to 7 hours, plus your choice of uplighting or a digital photo booth. You get everything in The Wedding Day Experience, including ceremony audio with a wireless mic, cocktail hour music, reception DJ and MC service, separate sound for each space, and timeline planning. Then choose 16 wireless uplights to transform the room with color, or a digital photo booth so guests can capture and share memories all night.

    Jose was the most amazing DJ for my husband’s and my wedding! He worked closely with us through the process and making sure all of our details were perfect! On the day of he got there early and made sure everything went smoothly and adjusted quickly to last minute changes. With our wedding being a dry wedding I was worried people wouldn’t dance but Jose did a great job getting us on the dance floor.     If you want a PACKED dance floor all night — book Jose immediately! He DJ’d two of my daughters’ weddings and my vow renewal, and each event was unforgettable. I take time to understand your vision, organize the important details, prepare your music, pronounce names correctly, and create a celebration that feels personal rather than copied from another wedding. One DJ. One point of contact. One seamless experience. When you book Jose The DJ Events, you get Jose. If I am unavailable for your date, I will gladly refer you to another trusted DJ.
Yes. Your music preferences are an important part of the planning process. You will have access to an online planning portal where you can build your request list, identify the songs you definitely want played and list any songs you do not want played. I also discuss guest requests with you before the wedding so I know whether you want me to accept them. On the wedding day, I use your preferences as the foundation while reading the room and keeping the celebration moving.
Yes. Ceremony audio and cocktail hour music are included in The Wedding Day Experience and The Immersive Celebration Experience. I can provide separate sound for the ceremony, music for guest arrival and the processional, a wireless microphone for the officiant and music during cocktail hour. The Curated Reception Experience is reception only, but ceremony audio and cocktail hour music may be added when available.
Yes. Jose The DJ Events carries liability insurance and meets the insurance requirements of many venues. If your venue requires a certificate of insurance, please let me know during the planning process so I can provide the necessary documentation before your wedding day.
I generally plan to arrive about two hours before services begin so I have enough time to load in, set up and test the equipment before guests arrive. The exact arrival time may depend on the venue, access instructions and the amount of equipment required. I coordinate these details in advance so the sound and lighting are ready before your celebration begins.
You can choose either one with The Immersive Celebration Experience, and both may be added to another wedding experience when available.
Travel within Hampton Roads and Williamsburg is included in my standard pricing. For events outside that area, travel fees and overnight accommodations may apply depending on the location, distance and event schedule. Any required costs will be explained before you receive a proposal so there are no surprises. Standard setup and breakdown are included in the selected wedding experience.
Your wedding date is officially reserved once the agreement is signed and the retainer is received. Before booking, we’ll go over your plans, confirm availability, and make sure the wedding experience you choose fits what you need. Once you’re booked, you’ll get a welcome email with access to your planning portal and forms so we can start organizing the details.
