I'm Schwa Potter, actor turned wedding officiant based in Milwaukee, WI. I write and lead every ceremony myself, from intimate elopements to big splashy celebrations. Couples choose between two options. The Quickie Ceremony ($300) is a 5 to 7 minute legal ceremony, ideal for elopements and small gatherings. The Signature Ceremony ($950) is 15 to 25 minutes, totally original, and couldn't work for anyone but you. I direct the ceremony on the day, and rehearsal coordination is available for $150. I'll guide you through the legal process, and make sure your license is signed and filed correctly. I serve Milwaukee, Southeast Wisconsin, Northern Illinois, and travel to destination weddings nationwide for an additional fee.

I've been a professional actor for over thirty years, including Broadway's Mary Poppins, and I bring that experience to your ceremony. I know how to set the mood, bring all the feels, and improv in the event anything goes sideways. Often times my couples' guests assume I've been friends with them for years - it's my favorite compliment! Since 2015 I've married 500+ couples: gay, straight, interfaith, secular, and everything in between. If you are two people in love, I'd love to help you celebrate it.

    Schwa was absolutely fantastic. He did amazing at writing out our ceremony and his communication with us was great. After the ceremony so many people were coming up to us on how we found Schwa because he did such an amazing job.

    Schwa was absolutely phenomenal to work with. As someone who knows nothing about planning a ceremony he helped walk us every step of the way. He created a beautiful ceremony for us that we got SO many compliments about. We opted to also pay for a rehearsal the night before. He helped run that flawlessly and we signed the marriage license during then so we didn't have to worry about bringing the documents to the actual ceremony.

The Quickie Ceremony is $300 for a 5-7 minute nonreligious ceremony. The Signature Ceremony is $950 for a fully personalized 15-25 minute ceremony with your love story woven throughout. Both prices include tax. Rehearsal attendance is available for an additional $150. Travel fees of $1/mile apply for venues over 30 miles from Milwaukee.

Yes. Schwa has performed ceremonies with as little as 24 hours notice, contingent on when you can acquire a marriage license from the county clerk. If you already have your marriage license, he can marry you today.
