About Rabbi Brent Chaim Spodek

Rabbi Brent Chaim Spodek

It’s not 1952 anymore - nobody is scandalized that people live together before marriage, and thankfully, nobody is getting married because single women don’t have economic agency. So what does it mean for a modern couple to get married? We often think in terms of things we won’t do: we won’t leave, we won’t stray. Those are minimum requirements, not aspirations. The question of marriage is what will you do when - inevitably - love feels distant, and you are hurt or disappointed? I work with couples of all faith backgrounds who are as serious about their marriage as they are about their wedding and are ready to address that question.

I am a couples counselor and rabbi focused on making sure your ceremony is perfect, and your marriage is strong. I work with couples of all faith backgrounds and none, with the belief that just as Hinduism has given the gift of yoga to those who do and those who don’t “identify” as Hindu, and Buddhism has given the gift of mindfulness to those who do and those who don’t “identify” as Buddhist, so too does Judaism give the gift of emotionally intelligent communication as a spiritual practice to to those who do and those who don’t “identify” as Jewish.

In three words: Calm, Empathetic, Supportive

    BEST RABBI EVER!

Working with Rabbi Brent to prepare for our wedding was incredible. When we got engaged, we knew we wanted a rabbi to officiate our wedding - yet what we didn’t know was all we would gain working with Rabbi Brent. Working with Rabbi Brent is about so much more than preparing for your wedding day, he helps you prepare for life and all that comes along with getting married. As Rabbi Brent told us, weddings are beautiful and last a day while marriages are long and last a lifetime. That could not be more true! Rabbi Brent is kind, caring, compassionate and inspiring. Meeting with Rabbi Brent every other week as we prepared for our wedding allowed us to open up with each other, ask tough questions and get to know each other on a deeper and meaningful level. Rabbi Brent listens and guides with an open and honest heart. By the end of our sessions with Rabbi Brent - we truly felt like family with him! The meetings with Rabbi Brent were one of our favorite parts of our wedding year. Rabbi Brent culminated our year with the most meaningful Ketubah signing and wedding ceremony. As we stood under the chuppah with Rabbi Brent, we were so extremely grateful for all he taught us and instilled in us over the past year. He has turned in to an incredible friend and resource for us - and we look forward to sharing many more milestones with him in our lives! Each session with Rabbi Brent was a true reminder that planning your wedding, is ultimately about planning your life together (while our wedding day was absolutely perfect and the most fun party ever!) - Rabbi Brent reminds you of the “why” in getting married. He is an incredible person, and we feel so lucky to have him in our lives. Look no further than Rabbi Brent - he is the BEST!

    Great officiant for Jewish ceremony!

We really enjoyed working with Rabbi Brent in the months leading up to our wedding. Rabbi Brent facilitated conversations about all sorts of relationship/communication topics and guided us in writing our ketubah and designing our ceremony in a way that represented both of us and our families. We really appreciated his thoughtful and insightful approach to counseling. He also did a fantastic job officiating our ketubah signing and ceremony — it was heartfelt, meaningful and the perfect length! We received so many compliments from our guests about our ceremony and are very happy with how it all came together with Rabbi Brent’s help.

Rabbi Brent was one of the best decisions we made

Choosing Brent to guide our conversations and Ketubah writing and to officiate our wedding was one of the best decisions we made. Choosing an officiant for an interfaith wedding can feel like a daunting task. We were considering professional officiants and rabbis, and it wasn’t until we met Brent that it felt like we could get exactly what we wanted for our ceremony. It was important for us the have traditions represented, to make the audience feel included, and for it to feel authentic to the way we live day to day. We knew from moment one that he was going to be a great speaker and a great person to lead our ceremony. After our ceremony we received so many compliments. The way Brent was able to tell our story and timeline, highlight aspects from our Ketubah, and integrate the traditions we chose was seamless and engaging, so it did not feel long to us or the audience. Many people told us it was their favorite wedding ceremony ever. In addition, our Ketubah signing was a special moment that some of our family said was their favorite. Outside of the ceremony, we were looking for someone to guide our conversations going into the marriage to make sure we felt aligned and strong. The sets of questions and discussions helped us put into words what we had been unsaid for our seven year relationship. It connected us during stressful wedding planning and we now feel prepared to tackle future difficult times in our lives. In addition, the letters we wrote to each other which informed our Ketubah were such a nice way to remind ourselves why we wanted a marriage with our partner in the first place. Brent was insightful and thorough in sharing resources, notes, and perceptions, highlighting dynamics in our relationship that we could never quite put our finger on.

Amazing experience working with Rabbi Brent

My husband and I had an amazing experience working with Rabbi Brent in the lead up to the wedding. He also did an excellent job officiating on the big day. We had multiple guests let us know how much they enjoyed hearing from him. The pre-wedding work was a highlight of our overall wedding experience. He helped us connect and explore new topics in our relationship. We developed a strong relationship with Rabbi Brent along the way and are very thankful for that. We offer our highest recommendation for his services.

    A Perfect Match

Rabbi Brent Spodek was exceptional throughout our entire wedding process. We first connected with him at another wedding and immediately felt he would be the perfect fit for us; our instincts proved absolutely right. From the beginning, he brought a rare combination of presence, deep listening, and genuine collaboration, working closely with us to shape a ceremony that felt fully aligned with who we are. Over several months, we engaged in a thoughtful and thorough counseling process with him that went far beyond what we expected. He asked poignant, generative questions that sparked meaningful reflection and dialogue between us, and he helped us develop tools for navigating both solvable and unsolvable conflicts. With his guidance, we were able to articulate commitments that truly amplify the best in each of us. Rabbi Brent brings deep compassion and a wealth of knowledge, while remaining warm, personable, and grounded. On the day of our wedding, he gave us the most beautiful ceremony, even when we had some caterpillars trying to steal the spotlight. He made so much of an impression that many of our guests commented on how special he was and that our ceremony really captured who we are. We feel incredibly grateful to have worked with him.
