I’m Margarida, a Portuguese wedding photographer based in Houston, bringing a warm European editorial sensibility to honest, emotion-driven wedding photography. I believe the best wedding photographs happen when you feel comfortable enough to forget about the camera. My approach combines genuine connection, quiet observation, gentle direction, and plenty of energy when you need it. I’m drawn to the moments you might not expect—genuine reactions, quick laughs, and all the little things happening around you. Alongside those candid moments, I create warm, editorial portraits that still feel like you—not overly posed or staged. Houston-based.

I’m calm when things get hectic, easy to talk to, and genuinely present throughout the day. I’ll give you direction when you need it, offer ideas when something could work better, and step back when the moment speaks for itself.     Small in stature, huge in talent

    Margarida may be small in stature, but that’s definitely the only thing small about her — her talent is huge. Working with her is always incredibly easy and light. She creates such a relaxed and positive atmosphere, while still being extremely professional, attentive and focused. She has an amazing eye for moments, people and details, and there is always so much to learn from watching her work. She has that rare ability to make people feel comfortable in front of the camera while capturing everything in a very natural and beautiful way. And when it comes to the final result, it honestly couldn’t be better — her images are thoughtful, elegant and full of emotion. Margarida is not only a very talented photographer, but also a wonderful person to have around on such an important day. I truly believe anyone who chooses to work with her will be incredibly lucky to have her there.

    Weddings require people like Margarida

    Having shot weddings for almost 14 years, there's something I stick to no matter what: only working with people I'd like having in my own wedding. Margarida is one of them. We're hired as storytellers and I do believe that a good story requires way more than the photo itself. Money can buy gear, training and even the right opportunities, but to shoot a wedding PROPERLY, you need to have something I struggle to find in a lot of photographers, something that Margarida has: the ability to make others feel at ease. My clients liked Margarida, their friends and relatives liked Margarida and that made everything easier in their wedding days. So, if you're considering teaming up with or hiring Margarida for any photography related task that involves interacting with other human beings, I am entirely sure that you can't go wrong. It'll mean getting delivered great albums, no matter what the circumstance, filled with great candid portraits and natural depictions of whatever was happening, which only happens because people will be comfortable as long as she's the one holding the camera.

    Excellent Experience

    Delighted with Margarida

    Margarida is an outstanding professional and a truly wonderful wedding photographer. My husband and I got married last November and had the pleasure of having Margarida photograph both our ceremony and reception. From the very beginning, Margarida went above and beyond to understand us as a couple and what we wanted from our wedding photography. She insisted on having a chat with us before the big day to make sure she knew which moments were most important to us and the kind of memories we wanted to preserve. That level of care and preparation made us feel confident that we were in great hands. During the ceremony, she was incredibly discreet and unobtrusive. Yes. A second photographer is available as an add-on to any collection at $100/hour. I typically recommend a second photographer for larger guest counts, larger wedding parties, or celebrations with more complex logistics.
I don’t work with a fixed number of images. Instead, I carefully select and edit the photographs that best tell the story of your day, so you receive a complete gallery without an arbitrary image limit.
You’ll receive a selection of sneak peeks within one week of your wedding, followed by your full edited gallery within 6–8 weeks. Every image is carefully selected and edited to tell the complete story of your day.
Absolutely. I’m based between Houston and Lisbon and photograph weddings throughout both the US and Portugal. I’m also available for destination weddings and travel outside my home markets.
My style is primarily documentary, with a warm editorial influence. I’m drawn to genuine moments, unexpected reactions, and all the little things happening around you. I’ll gently guide you when needed, especially during portraits, while keeping everything natural and true to who you are.
