Hello there! I'm Mary, and I'm thrilled you've found yourself here! I started photography as a hobby in high school, and followed my passion for it into college. I received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Film + Photography from Montana State University in Bozeman. I began shooting weddings in 2019 and I was hooked! I quickly found that I love the fast-paced setting and ability to tell the story of your big day through images. I aim to create timeless photos that capture the feel of your day and feel genuine to you.

I take pride in my ability to both keep your day on track, while also setting everyone at ease. I do my best to prep both myself and my couples as much as possible before the big day, so everyone knows what to expect and what their roles will be. My style is a mixture of the posed, classic wedding photos, and candid, real moments that capture the movement and rhythm of the day.

    Mary was top notch!

    Mary Nickol Photography was the perfect choice for our wedding photography. Mary was very responsive to all of our questions throughout the planning process, which put us at ease. On the day of our elopement, Mary was incredibly skilled at capturing the perfect shots, using her expertise in lighting and posing to highlight the magic of the moment. She has a great eye for detail and really helped us feel comfortable in front of the camera. Mary embodied everything that makes a great photographer, and we are thrilled with the beautiful photos that will allow us to relive our special day for years to come.

    Mary is very talented and a joy to work with!

    My husband and I worked with Mary for our winter wedding in 2020. Mary was incredibly flexible as plans had changed many times for our wedding. She was an absolute joy to work with and so much fun! She made us feel comfortable in front of the camera and was able to capture amazing moments and emotions of our day.     Couldn't Ask For More

    Mary was an absolute DREAM to work with on our wedding. She took the extra step at every turn, reached out multiple times in advance to ensure everything was still on track (our wedding was in the middle of covid), and gave us some of the best photos that have ever been taken of us.     I have known Mary for many years personally and I have also been fortunate to work with her professionally. Working with Mary is a dream. She is organized, a great communicator and is able to keep a photoshoot on schedule. She has a great eye for details and makes the clients feel comfortable while creating a fun environment. She has an authentic style that captures the beauty of her subjects. Mary has a long career ahead of her. I’m happy that I get to be a part of it from time to time.

Yes! I am always down for a road trip, and my bags can be packed at a moment's notice! I'm currently based in Bozeman, so any location beyond 25 miles from there will incur a fuel charge. I also require one night of lodging for anywhere more than two hours from Bozeman, and two nights for anywhere outside of Montana.
I do not release RAW images under any circumstance, because they are not reflective of my work, or the vision we've created for your day.
YES! My delivery service offers access to a professional print shop, and I encourage all of my clients to order prints there. That being said, you are not obligated to order there! You have rights to all your digital images. I also offer custom albums. Nothing is better than having a tangible piece of your day. If you're interested in an album, you can do so after your images have been delivered.
Typically, couples book me anywhere from 8 months to over a year in advance. The sooner you can book, the better, as dates fill up quickly!
I provides sneak peeks to clients within 48 hours of the big day, because I know how hard it is to wait! I work hard to get your images back to you asap, so rest assured, they are on their way! During busy season (May-September), my turnaround is a little longer, but on average you can expect your full online gallery of images in 8-12 weeks!
