Owner/Lead Photographer

Western MA based photojournalist and wedding photographer. Prior to coming home to Western Mass in 2010, I lived in Washington, DC. I spent 6 years as a member of the White House press corps . I was lucky enough to document a lot of historic events, including the election and inauguration of President Obama. My work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Boston Globe.

I work in a very quiet and unobtrusive way. My goal is to provide an authentic photographic record that beautifully captures the look and emotions of your wedding day. I love making some really striking posed portraits too, but most of the day I observe and document without interrupting the flow to stage things for the camera.

    Extremely Professional Wedding Photographer

    Matthew did an amazing job and we couldn’t be happier to have had him be the one to photograph our wedding and engagement! He is professional, calm, and warm. As a couple who isn’t a fan of being in the spotlight he immediately put us at ease, was unobtrusive, and incredibly kind. We are so happy with his photography style, the quality and quantity of photographs we received, and the timeliness in which we received them all back was honestly incredible! We would highly recommend him.

    Best photographer ever

    Matthew is such an exceptional photographer and wonderful person. We were blown away by his photography – every single one of his photos was so beautiful and he captured so many wonderful candid moments from our wedding day. We've looked through the gallery again and again, reliving those memories. All of our friends and family have commented about how much they loved Matthew's presence on the day, and we couldn't agree more – his friendly, calm demeanor was exactly what we needed. Photography was one of the most important vendors for us and we feel so lucky that we picked Matthew.

    Captured the day perfectly!

    We were lucky enough to have Matthew capture our wedding in June of 2025. Matthew is so pleasant and professional to work with. He was communicative along the way, responded quickly and returned our photos so fast! He has such an eye to make every scene, or every background beautiful. One of the biggest reasons we chose to work with Matthew was because he captures the emotions in photos so well, and he absolutely delivered! While our posed photos are stunning; he was able to capture the candid's, and feelings of the day perfectly - all the while being so calm and un-intrusive. There are so many photos where we didn’t even realize he was close by. It allowed us to enjoy our day and have each moment authentically captured. We cannot recommend Matthew enough and hope to have an excuse to work with him again in the future!

    The Best Money We Spent

    Matthew is without a doubt the wisest investment we made on our wedding day. He is calm, easy to work with, organized, and most importantly takes amazing photos. He's got a great eye for composition and his time as a press photographer means he's especially great with capturing candid moments. We had our wedding a little outside of his normal home base in Western MA, but he was happy to travel and the overall price was still very reasonable. If you're looking for a laid-back professional to take some of the most important photos of your life, Matthew is your guy. Very highly recommended.

    We cannot recommend Matthew enough!!!

    Matthew was a FANTASTIC addition to our wedding vendor team. His calm, accommodating, and warm demeanor put us at ease from the very moment we met with him. He gave lovely suggestions without being pushy, and was comfortable with our specific requests, even when they were a bit outside the box. He maintained a low profile throughout our wedding day, while also checking in with us for key decision moments. Not to mention, all the photos both staged and candid came out PHENOMENAL! We’ll have to wait a while before there’s a good reason to hire him again, but when it comes we’ll do so in a heartbeat. Thank you Matthew, for everything!!!

I do enjoy working solo and for most weddings, that's what I do. It means having a smaller and quieter presence during the day and that fits my approach nicely, but some larger weddings will definitely benefit from a second photographer. Especially if you have a large wedding (150+), large wedding party and or you're getting ready in two different locales.
You can expect around 75 images per hour of photography. This estimate varies depending on your wedding package, number of guests, venue type, and other factors.
I do! Just let me know if your venue requires a certificate of liability, and I’ll send that over to them.
In my many years of experience as a wedding photographer, I’ve never cancelled a booking. In the very rare event that I’m unable to photograph your wedding, I’ll make sure you’re covered by one of my colleagues or my contracted assistant. I’ll also provide you with a list of photographers from the many networking groups I’m in, so you can find the perfect replacement.
I deliver a preview gallery of at least 50 images in 48 hours or less. The rest of the images typically tale 5-6 weeks to deliver.
