Documentary Film Photographer

I’m a documentary film photographer and filmmaker based in New York working with medium format and 35mm. I shoot exclusively analog still photography because I love the intentionality that film demands. I’ve been shooting for 16 years and had clients along the way, but now that I’m finishing grad school, I have the time to focus on my photography business. I shoot traditional and alternative weddings, love ceremonies, courthouse weddings, elopements, and parties! I’m currently building my photography business, which allows me to offer competitive rates while bringing 15 years of experience. I’m currently based in NYC and spend my summers in the Adirondacks. I often travel for work and am available for shoots locally or out of town.

I believe there is something about analog photography that you simply can’t replicate with digital. Film forces me to be present and interact with the people I photograph, and recognize what Henri Cartier-Bresson called “the decisive moment.” There is a feeling when I press the shutter and know I’ve just captured something special. I am a narrative filmmaker and approach still photography as a storyteller.

    Incredible Eye and Amazing to Work With

    Every time I look at the photos Ramona took for my brand launch dinner party I am filled with joy. She didn’t just take pictures of what was happening that night, she captured how the night felt. Two couples kissing at the same time. The look of joy in the eyes of somebody eating their first bite of dessert. The pile of corks and emptied bottles of wine. My favorite part about working with Ramona was the energy she brought to the event. She was an integral part of the experience, giving off her warmth and hospitality to each of the guests as she got to know them and took their pictures. The photos feel nostalgic, timeless, otherworldly, a style that could only come through Ramona’s eyes. If you have the opportunity to work with her, consider yourself lucky, you’ll have treasure forever.

While I have experience shooting digital motion picture cameras for film and music videos, I choose to shoot still photography on film. I love the intentionality that film demands: every frame is carefully considered and composed.

Film, processing, and scanning are billed separately from my photography fee. I pass these costs directly on to you at the lab/retail price. Before your shoot, we'll determine approximately how much film we'll need based on the length and needs of your session.

This depends on the length and needs of your shoot, as well as your film stock budget. Before the shoot, we'll discuss your priorities and determine a film budget that makes sense for the project.
You will receive your edited film scans as high-quality digital files via a downloadable link.
This depends on the length of your shoot and how many hours I cover. Film photography is all about being present and intentional. I prioritize quality over quantity. I’m not trying to create as many photographs as possible, but to make each frame count and deliver a collection that feels meaningful; a true relic of the event.
Scans come in different sizes. We will work together to decide the quality of scans that best fits your needs.
I typically ship film to the lab within 1–2 business days after your shoot. Once the film is processed and scanned, I personally handle the editing and post-production of every gallery. Turnaround time depends on the scope of the project. For weddings, you can expect your final gallery within 8-10 weeks. For smaller projects, delivery is typically 4-6 weeks. If you need a rush turnaround, expedited processing may be available for an additional fee.
Once your film has been processed, I can ship the original negatives to you, or I can safely archive them.
I don't currently produce darkroom prints in-house, but I work with and can recommend excellent darkroom printers. I can also have your images professionally printed from the digital scans.
