Based in New York City, Silence ByK Photography specializes in wedding photography that blends classic elegance with a modern editorial perspective. Led by photographer Tanel Leigher, the approach is intentional, relaxed, and centered on capturing both beautifully composed portraits and the genuine moments happening in between. From refined details and fashion-forward portraits to candid emotion and celebration, every wedding is documented with an eye for story, atmosphere, and connection.
Tanel works in both digital and film photography and also offers wedding content creation for couples who want to relive and share their celebration beyond their professional gallery. Gallery turn around is in 1-2 weeks for all of her couples. Tanel has photographed weddings across New York, New Jersey, Georgia, Chicago, Connecticut, and California, and is available for destination weddings throughout the U.S. and beyond. Tanel is also a preferred vendor at Celebrate at Snug Harbor in Staten Island, New York.

Artistic, intuitive, and truly exceptional
I first connected with Tanel around Spring 2021 during covid, when I hired her to photograph a dream cherry blossom session n Jersey City and Liberty State Park when I was moving away from Jersey City. I had a vision in my head of what I wanted, but somehow she captured it even more beautifully than I could have imagined. Those photos felt like the me I wanted to express but didn't know how - somehow she figured it out better than I EVER could. What makes Tanel so special is her intuition. From my experience working with photographers over the years, that is something you simply cannot teach. She has an incredible ability to understand the person she is photographing—their personality, energy, style, and what makes them unique—and translate all of that into beautiful, artistic images, and helping you through your insecurities. I loved working with her so much I subsequently hired her for an NYC fall colors photoshoot AND also when I got engaged in 2024 in California, there was really no question about who I wanted to photograph us. I actually flew her all the way to California for our engagement shoot! Once again, she went above and beyond. She made the experience feel completely unique to us and captured not only how we looked, but our personalities, what we love, and the feeling and vibe we wanted the photographs to have. Both times, Tanel thoughtfully helped with everything from colors and styling to props and creative ideas. She has such a warm, supportive, calming energy, and she knows how to help you feel comfortable and bring out your best in front of the camera. She is incredibly thoughtful, artistic, talented, and a wonderful soul well beyond her years. Her pricing is also extremely competitive for the level of quality, care, creativity, and personal attention she provides—the value is amazing. Tanel has become my go-to photographer, and at this point I truly cannot imagine trusting these important moments to anyone else. Tanel and her second shooter Sean did a fabulous job shooting our wedding! Tanel was very communicative throughout the whole planning process and was very receptive to our ideas. She even scouted out the location in advance to prepare. Tanel has a great eye and the photos came out amazing. The photos were also provided very quickly after the wedding, which was appreciated!
