About this venue

Columbus Historical Preservation Trust (CHPT) would be honored to be a small part of your special day! The 1886 Stafford Opera House offers two distinctive event spaces located at the heart of our beautiful and historic town square. We at CHPT want your celebration to reflect YOU; therefore, you are welcome to select the event planner, florist, décor team, caterer, bartender, and entertainment of your choice—we do not require the use of a mandatory vendor list. Every reservation at the 1886 Stafford Opera House includes tables (uncovered) and chairs. The Grand Hall, located on the second floor, is the epitome of timeless opulence. Large enough to comfortably seat up to 300, the Grand Hall will captivate you and your guests with its historic elegance. The Buddy Rau Room, located on our first floor, is a wonderful corporate and community event space that seats up to 97. Please reach out with any questions or to schedule a tour. The Buddy Rau Room, located on the first floor of the 1886 Stafford Opera House, offers a warm and elegant setting for gatherings of up to 97 guests. The space includes an adjoining kitchenette and a beautiful, flexible foyer ideal for cocktails, receptions, auctions, guest arrival, or additional event space. Thoughtfully designed for both function and charm, the Buddy Rau Room may be reserved on its own or added to your Grand Hall event for an even more seamless and memorable experience.

    CCHFH Volunteer & Donor Thank You Social

    Colorado County Habitat for Humanity held a donor and volunteer social. There was snacks, drinks and desserts for everyone who came to socialize. The room was perfect for our social gathering. We were able to set up our laptop and play a video of volunteers and donors over time who have given to Colorado County Habitat for Humanity.

    We chose 1886 Stafford Opera House for our Mother's repast and couldn't have been happier with the decision. From our first conversation, the team was professional and easy to work with, and they offered helpful suggestions that really shaped how our day came together. The venue itself is stunning—it has this elegant, historic charm that made our repast and reception feel special without us having to do much decorating. Their attention to detail and the quality of service we received was top notch, and everything ran smoothly on the actual day. We had guests comment on how beautiful the space was and how well everything was organized. If you're looking for a venue with a professional team and incredible value, 1886 Stafford Opera House is definitely worth considering.

Our transaction was smooth and we received quick follow-up for any questions that arose. I host events across the nation and this was definitely one of the greatest experiences I’ve had. The 1886 Stafford Opera House has two event spaces: The Buddy Rau Room located on the first floor can be rented at $500 for a 12-hour reservation or at $50 per hour for an event under 4 hours. The Grand Hall located on the second floor can be rented at $3,000 for a 15-hour reservation or at $250 per hour for an event under 5 hours. The Buddy Rau Room can be added to your Grand Hall reservation for $500 and/or additional set up or building hours can be added at $125 per hour.
Yes, free parking is available around our beautiful courthouse square.
Yes, we will gladly work with you or your bartending service to obtain the appropriate TABC permits (if needed).
Yes, all our facilities are wheelchair accessible.

A 50% deposit is due at booking. All refund requests must be made in writing. Partial (50%) refunds will be given for requests received 90 days or more in advance of the event. If a request is received less than 90 days before, no refund will be given.
From the 1886 Stafford Opera House, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is approximately 80 miles to the northwest and Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P. Hobby Airport are approximately 85 miles east. San Antonio International Airport is approximately 130 miles to the west.
Lessee is required to obtain day-of-wedding insurance; proof of insurance must be presented 30 days before the event.
