About this venue

Cardigan Lodge is situated on a 1,200-acre reservation owned by the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC), the oldest outdoor non-profit organization in the United States. Built in 1853, the lodge is adjacent to the 5,000-acre Cardigan Mountain State Park and is conveniently located two hours from Boston, MA. With access to rushing cascades, Cardigan Mountain’s 3,121’ summit, and more than 50 miles of nature and hiking trails, Cardigan Lodge is the ideal destination for those seeking a natural setting to celebrate their love.

A quaint timber-framed dining hall, perfect for both a New-England themed reception dinner or a post-ceremony dance party.

This space accommodates 80 seated guests. The hall receives great sunlight through its large windows, and the room is configurable to accommodate a small band, DJ, and dance floor. An adjoining fireplace niche offers intimate ceremony potential, or a comfortable place for guests to gather between wedding events.

A perfect cozy fall wedding weekend
We had an amazing experience with the AMC, and they went above and beyond our expectations. They were communicative and always assisted with the little and big things we had to do. Skye and the crew were so kind and helped make our weekend perfect. Food was delicious, and there was plenty of it. Guests kept raving about the lodge, staff, and food (especially lemon ricotta cake and chicken piccata). The venue was perfect for our lodge guests.

Absolutely perfect venue for the right couple
Everything about our wedding weekend at Cardigan was both sacred and stunning. To start with, from the first encounter with Carter and Skye it felt as though we were working with a caring group of like-minded people who were truly invested in helping us make a special memory. A huge advantage is the ability to have the whole weekend to spend with your guests. The food was absolutely excellent and frankly exceeded our expectations (many of our guests said it was the best wedding food they had ever had), we were easily able to accommodate a 100 person ceremony and similarly sized event tent (strongly recommend LRTE), and all the while were still able to share our love of hiking and the woods with our loved ones. It is a slightly nonconventional venue, and so best suited for couples willing to be a little flexible and who lean towards a touch of adventure. However the AMC staff (and in particular Skye!) were accommodating at ever turn, and for the right crew, it's an incredibly special option. And when it's all said and done, it sure feels nice that all the proceeds go to an organization like the AMC. 3 Thanks again to the Cardigan staff (with special thanks to Carter, Skye, Marty and Garett)

11/10 wedding weekend
Cardigan Lodge is THE place if you want to spend quality time with your people on your wedding day. We had guests come up Friday afternoon and they stayed through Sunday morning which allowed us to meaningfully connect with each of our guests. A favorite moment was early Saturday morning drinking coffee and puzzling by the fireplace before the commotion of wedding day began. Every meal was excellent and accommodated a large variety of dietary restrictions. The AMC staff was happy to help and executed each task we asked of them with care and attention to detail. Carter (business manager) and Skye (lodge manager) were excellent to work with. They were responsive to our questions and set expectations for what the AMC would provide vs. what we would need to coordinate from the start. For us, the lodge was a blank slate and, with the AMC's help, we made my lofty vision a reality. But really, Cardigan Lodge is beautiful as is and the mountains and forest provide a stunning backdrop on their own. The best wedding weekend spot!
Cardigan was the most magical spot for our wedding weekend! from the planning to the execution we couldn't have asked for better people to work with. They were so detail oriented, incredibly kind, and patient!! They were so excited for us and were helpful in making our vision a reality. All the food was outstanding! we had several different dietary restrictions and the catered to all of them- the guests kept telling us after each meal how wonderful the food was. We felt so comfortable and happy to share this wonderful space with friends and family! Couldn't recommend it enough!

Best Wedding Venue ever
My now husband and I have always loved the AMC and we had been to Cardigan before and we knew it was a special place. The AMC is an awesome organization that makes the outdoors accessible to many people in New England. Even if that wasn't true, this would have been the best venue because the setting is so gorgeous. We rented the lodge from Friday-Sunday and had 60 guests stay in bunkbeds with us at the lodge on Friday and Saturday nights. The AMC staff made delicious food that met the dietary restrictions of all our guests. They let us set up all over the property and turn the forest into our dream ceremony location. We even cold plunged in the pond! I would do all of this again, it was just right for our crew.
