Unique Venue
We had our wedding on them William D Evans with around 170 guests. It was such a unique venue with guests saying how much they loved the stained glass ceiling, touring mission bay, and how good the food was. The venue was decorated beautifully which made planning our decor minimal and simple. The food and cake was exceptional with even our most food-scrutinizing guests saying how good it was. Probably one of the best hidden-gem venues in san diego!

Do NOT host wedding events at the Bahia
Do NOT host wedding blocks or events here. Once you sign a contract & pay a deposit, they will begin to screw you. Dealing with the Bahia Hotel & Resort was hands down the most stressful part of wedding planning. In September 2026, we hosted our wedding block & some events at the Bahia, and I wish I had chosen elsewhere. The service through planning was terrible. Our wedding was obviously an inconvenience to the Bahia Hotel & Resort. Babett Hirzel & Sara in particular lack the customer service skills required to plan such a momentous weekend. The only staff that I was impressed by were the food & beverage serve staff. 1. In planning to do a wedding block & events, I was given a tour of the Bahia by Brianda in November 2025. Communication and service was smooth, up until we signed a contract & paid a deposit. At that point, clear communication and good service were history. There was no longer a single POC and we were passed off between atleast 5 departments, none of which seemed happy to help us. I expected a resort of this size to be more professional than this. They acted like it was their first wedding event while treating me extremely poorly. Our other vendors were beyond happy and helpful to do my wedding, but not the Bahia Hotel & Resort. It seemed like my wedding events were a problem for the Bahia. 2. In July 2026, Ms Hirzel, General Manager, finally offered to jump on a call to discuss the poor service we had been receiving. However, she would not schedule a call with me, and had Brianda jump on for an unplanned solo phonecall. Babett Hirzel did communicate with me via email, to inform me that I was at fault for not knowing each detail of our wedding weekend when initial communication began 10 months prior to wedding day. I was shocked, as this does not seem like General Manager behavior. She was not trying to deescalate, she was causing more upset. 3. Check in for both the bride (me) & mother of bride was made difficult & stressful. The bride was told they could not find her room, and it may have been cancelled. The MOB was not given the room she booked. The front staff was not initially helpful, but instead irritated! Only after escalating the situations were these issues resolved. 4. My husband and I had an extended check out the day after our wedding. On the day of check out, we were locked out of our room early. My husband went to the front to enquire, where the woman at the front desk aggressively questioned him on the late check out: “who approved that? Who told you that you could have late check out?” When she checked her computer, she saw we were in fact approved for late check out. I hoped that upon check in the issues would subside, but it didn’t. This place is operated by a bunch of jokers that have no concern for their customers. Save yourself the headache. Spend the wedding money elsewhere. These people do not value it.
