Booking 2027 and 2028. Bluestem Farm's De Graslanden Barn is all vintage with a touch of modern. Built over 100 years ago, it's one of McHenry county's oldest dairy barns. The barn boasts two levels for your event plus an outdoor patio space. Surrounded by over 140 acres of prairie, the views are simply stunning. We all know the finer things are in the details, The barn is filled with original woodwork and hand-crafted details that you and your guests will enjoy. De Graslanden Barn is the main event space! Guests will enjoy all the original features of the barn with the modern amenities your guests expect.
The main barn features two levels of event space. Our lower level serves as cocktail hour space before your reception. Guest will transition upstairs into the loft for dinner and dancing. The lower level space is always open so guests can continue to enjoy the whole event space.

Wedding of our dreams!!
We got married at Bluestem Farm on 6/6/2026, and we couldn’t have imagined a more perfect day or venue. From our first walkthrough to our wedding day, Kelly was incredibly helpful and professional. She went above and beyond to make sure all parts of our day ran smoothly. We had the entire weekend package, and I couldn’t recommend this enough. Having the opportunity to set up all of our decor and rehearse the night before put us at ease. Kelly also served as our day of coordinator, and all of our vendors were preferred vendors of the venue. She coordinated everything seamlessly, and it took so much stress off our plates. Beyond the logistics, the venue is absolutely stunning. So many of our guests told us how beautiful the barn & property were, and how much they enjoyed the ambience. If I had to do it all over again, I’d pick Bluestem every single time!

My dream venue
My husband and I both fell in love with Bluestem Farm! The venue was beautiful, spacious, and extremely well maintained, it is clear how much hard work Kelly puts into everything. We also appreciated her support before and during our wedding, answering all of our questions and ensuring everything ran smoothly without a single issue. A true delight
Working with Kelly Happ at Bluestem Farm and Events was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day! As the owner and operator, Kelly provided day-of coordination that was nothing short of perfection. From start to finish, she was incredibly calm, collected, and professional, bringing a sense of ease to the entire day. Kelly was hands-on with both setup and teardown, making sure every detail was executed seamlessly. She coordinated directly with all of our day-of vendors, ensuring everyone was prepared and knew exactly where to go so we didn't have to stress about a single logistical detail. What truly sets Kelly apart is her warmth and genuine care—she went out of her way to make sure we actually took time to pause, relax, and soak in every moment. Kelly went above and beyond to ensure the day we spent years planning turned out absolutely flawless. We are so grateful for her dedication and kindness, and we couldn't have asked for a better venue owner and coordinator to trust with our special day!

Literally could not be better
I would give Bluestem 10 stars if I could!! I was the perfect place to get married. The venue is gorgeous!! Kelly was responsive, super helpful, and never made me feel bad for asking questions. We also hired her for day-of coordination services, and she was EXCELLENT!!! We also hired several of Bluestem’s preferred vendors, and they were all great too!! It made planning so much easier. Our photos turned out amazing, especially at the greenhouse!! Cannot say enough good things about Kelly and this venue!! Would recommend to anyone!!!!

Wonderful place to get married!
Highly recommend Bluestem Farm for your wedding! Kelly and her staff are wonderful to deal with and help make your day worry free. Kelly is quick to answer and was very patient with me and any questions/changes that I had and with her as our day of coordinator, she helped take stress off of me and allow me to just sit back and enjoy my day. We had our wedding at the end of June 2026 and we got sooo many compliments on how beautiful the venue is and all of the wonderful areas to take photos are hard to beat!!
