About this venue
Tucked away on Daufuskie Island and accessible only by boat, Moon River is a private waterfront resort designed for families, friends, and groups of all ages who want to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with each other. Here, dolphins swim past your dock. Sunsets light up the Savannah skyline. Kids race barefoot down sandy paths. Grandparents linger on porches. Friends gather around firepits. This venue is perfect for a small wedding up to 75 guests. Vendors provide catering, transportation and rentals. We include tables and chairs.

Moon River offers a barefoot ceremony beneath the oaks, a waterfront vow exchange at sunset, or a laid-back reception under the stars!
Moon River is ideal for smaller weddings, elopements, and curated events where connection matters more than crowds. With multiple cottages available, couples can host their closest family and friends on-site, creating a shared experience that extends beyond the ceremony itself. Daufuskie Island’s quiet charm—unspoiled beaches, maritime forests, and scenic marsh views—naturally sets the tone for a relaxed, meaningful celebration.

Memorial Day Weekend Getaway
Our family spent a wonderful Memorial Day weekend at Moon River Retreat, and we loved every minute of our stay. From the moment we unpacked, it felt like we had discovered our own private paradise. One of the highlights for us was the private dock. Being able to bring our own boat and moor it right outside the house made getting out onto the water completely effortless. When we weren't on the boat, we were zipping around in the golf cart, which the kids absolutely loved. It gave us the freedom to explore every corner of the island and uncover some hidden gems we never would have found otherwise. We spent our afternoons down at the beach, which felt like our own best-kept secret. It was beautiful and felt virtually private, with only a handful of other people in sight the entire weekend. As for the accommodations, the house itself was flawless. It was brand new, spacious, and came equipped with nearly everything we needed for a comfortable, stress-free stay. We made so many wonderful family memories here, and we absolutely cannot wait to return for our next getaway!

The perfect spot
We rented all three homes for our 25th wedding anniversary and they were absolutely perfect for our group. The houses were beautiful, clean, comfortable, and very well appointed. Each home had its own charm while still giving everyone plenty of space to relax and enjoy time together. The location on Daufuskie Island made the trip feel truly special — peaceful, unique, and such a great getaway! Everything from booking to arrival was smooth and easy, and the homes had everything we needed for a memorable stay. Our friends and family had an amazing time, and this trip created memories we’ll all talk about for years to come. We would absolutely stay again and highly recommend these homes to anyone looking for the perfect place to bring people together on Daufuskie!
