About this venue
The Sanctuary Hall is a stunning, historical landmark in the heart of Portland's Art District. Step back into time as you bask in the warm glow of historic stained glass and run your fingertips along the hand-carved 130 year old pews. The Hall's rounded and layered design allows for every wedding to feel like an intimate affair, be it seven people or 700. Beneath the ceremony room are many more multi-use spaces, including a Reception Hall that seats 150, a commercial kitchen, Ch,apel, Library, multiple dressing rooms. The venue is equipped with modern sound, lighting, and video capturing and live streaming equipment. We have a fully functional pipe organ, one of the largest in Oregon, and a 7' Steinway Grand piano at your disposal. As an all-inclusive venue, we include staffing, setup, use of tables, chairs, linens, plateware, clean-up, and a wedding coordinator to assist you all the way!

Pricing: $300/hr Our Standard Wedding Package provides access to all three floors of our historic church - the Sanctuary Hall where ceremonies take place can seat up to 700. There are numerous spaces that can serve as dressing rooms, and a full commercial kitchen at your disposal.

Gorgeous Venue, Amazing Staff
We got married at Sanctuary Hall and it was absolutely magical — like, actual fairy tale vibes with a hint of medieval mystery and zero stress (which is rare for weddings, right?). The building is this beautiful Gothic style church smack in the middle of downtown Portland, right by the Park Blocks with all these majestic trees that made our photos look like we got married in a European forest... without leaving the city. The staff were total gems. Friendly, helpful, and never once made us feel like we were bothering them (even when I had 37 questions about candle placement). Our coordinator was a legend — calm, organized, and somehow always one step ahead of us. He made it feel like he was getting married and we were just lucky enough to show up. The sanctuary where we had the ceremony is stunning, and they livestreamed and recorded the whole thing so our family in Iowa could still watch, and we'll have the recording for posterity. Our reception was just downstairs and we were welcome to use their giant kitchen (seriously, it’s huge), and they didn’t charge extra for chairs, tables, plates etc. unlike some other venues we toured. Nice to not feel nickel and dimed. The whole building was ours for the day, which meant we had space to get ready, chill out, wrangle children (there’s a nursery in the basement — genius), and just breathe. It felt like hosting our wedding in a castle that also happened to be super welcoming and low-key. We loved Sanctuary Hall so much and can't recommend it enough!

Sanctuary Hall was the perfect venue for our wedding celebration. From the moment we first reached out, the team was incredibly helpful, communicative, and accommodating. The wedding coordinator, Steve, was available whenever we needed to plan or troubleshoot anything. The venue itself is a classic, beautiful, and historic space that provided an amazing value for the price. Sanctuary Hall had everything we needed in a wedding package, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure our special day was perfect. This hidden gem in Portland truly is a stunning space that I would highly recommend to any couple looking for a wedding venue.

Beautiful Venue, Amazing People!
My wife and I wanted to get married in a beautiful space, but we didn't want to be forced into a traditional, religious ceremony. Sanctuary Hall was the perfect venue! It's beautiful, with stained glass, old wood, lots of space, even a balcony. It's a very old building, with a good feeling to it. As soon as we saw it, it was easy to picture our ceremony there. Steve was a joy to work with - he was super-accommodating, the paperwork was simple, and he offered us all the options we needed. Additionally, the price was far less than most other places we had looked at. There was a minister available if we wanted, but we chose to have an ordained friend perform the service, which worked out fine. Steve was willing to move around furniture, let us use whichever rooms we wanted for preparation, changing, signing of documents, and so on. There was also an organist – Grant – available for the service. He was also amazing to work with, coming up with arrangements of music for us. Everyone was able to meet for a rehearsal a few weeks before the ceremony, which helped things run smoothly. The actual ceremony was beautiful, with everything coming together as planned. They even rang the bell for us as we left the church :) I highly recommend Sanctuary Hall to anyone looking for an amazing space in Portland.
