Lust for Life Event Planning + Wedding Design
Rating: 5.0 (4 reviews)
  • Planner
  • Offers 3 services
  • Starts at $2,500
  • Serves Walnut, IA

From my first mockup wedding timeline to hands on floral arrangements, I knew I belonged in the Events Industry. Every part of the process is special to me. From hearing your story, to showcasing the uniqueness of your relationship through personalized details. Fave moment is you relaxed, letting loose, and happily celebrating as you deserve to. Visualize being able to soak it all in, and then reach out when you’re ready to make it happen. I will always say yes to a meeting that involves iced coffee. My free time: cat snuggles, family dinners, friend outings, quiet nights in with my fiancé.

We hired Lust For Life to help plan our wedding, and it was the best decision we made throughout the planning process. Alison is super organized and detail-oriented, and she made sure every single piece was handled properly. She designed an absolutely beautiful wedding based on our input, taking care to ensure we were involved and happy with every decision. On top of this, she was very responsive and had good communication throughout the process; we met with her many times, and we left every single meeting feeling better about our progress. On the day of the wedding, she ensured everything ran super smoothly and handled coordination with all of the vendors, leaving us stress-free. Our wedding simply would not have been nearly as amazing without her help.

The photographer, videographer, and photo booth was absolutely perfect and our guests had a blast! However, even after going through the work of submitting a Spotify play list and adding do not play songs or DJ played the wrong version of our first dance song (I checked and we had the correct version listed on our playlist we sent over), he also played songs from our do not play list to the point I, the bride, came over to ask if he had the wrong list. He admitted he was using songs from the do not play list as he was not paying attention. I would also like to note, though our wedding was more casual, our DJ was dressed in a sloppy manner. His shirt was half untucked from his pants, there were stains on his shirt and pants. Besides a few hiccups, direct Entertainment was wonderful to work with!

Flower Moxie – Do-It-Yourself Wedding Flowers
Rating: 4.8 (100 reviews)
  • Florist
  • Starts at $350
  • Serves Walnut, IA

In 2013, 8-year wedding veteran Amy McCord Jones realizes she wouldn't be able to afford to hire her own floral services if she was a bride. Then, Amy discovers that there is basically zero help available for DIY brides. No flower recipes. No instructions. No access to florist-grade blooms. Rude. So she launches Flower Moxie! Flower Moxie remains a humble, tucked-away small business out of Oklahoma City. We don’t zoom around on scooters in some fancy high-rise. We stock an average kitchen with canned wine and Aldi chips and listen to true crime podcasts while photographing curvy ranunculus. Join us. There’s cake, hugs, and acceptance here.

Awarded Best of Zola
We had an amazingly positive experience working with Flower Moxie for my daughter’s July wedding. We placed our order in February using their “How Much Should I Buy” worksheet as a guide. Their website is filled with images and videos to help you make your choices. We went with the Sweet Wildflower bridal bouquet and 4 bridesmaid bouquets and then ordered a Build Your Own Wildflower Mixed Box and Build Your Own Spray Rose Mixed Box to DIY bud vases all for just over 900! In June we decided we wanted more bud vases for our dining tables than we had originally planned to have. I spoke with Maria who helped me add more of what I’d order to meet my needs. Cost was about 150. Not knowing really what to expect, I added 4 premade centerpieces just to have which cost 280. This was SO much more cost effective than trying to work with local florists or deal with wooden flower options. The only issue we had was a UPS issue. The flowers were coming directly from a farm in Ecuador and tracking numbers showed they were held up in Miami waiting for government release. Once released, we were able to see their travels. The flower boxes ended up being delayed by 1 day. The flowers should have arrived on a Thursday for a Sunday wedding. Delivery moved to Friday. Every worried email I sent was responded to immediately by Flower Moxie. They were tracking my order, too, and were on top of it. Once they arrived, we followed the specific directions the company sends out. I have photos of the stages of hydration, watching the blooms get more and more gorgeous as the hours passed. The bridal party put the 72 bud vases together on Saturday in the hotel conference room near the wedding venue. The bridal bouquets were perfect needing nothing but trimming of the stems and wrapping stems with ribbon we had purchased. I would highly recommend working with Flower Moxie, especially if you are looking to support small business, enjoy having the option to be a little hands on (though you don’t have to choose this option), and want to save on the cost of your florals. I plan to use them in the future if the need arises.

Stereotypical wedding DJs spoil the fun. They play the same songs (boring). There are gaps between songs (awkward). And they talk on the mic too much (obnoxious). We’re the alternative. We beat match & blend music (non-stop dancing) We use the mic appropriately (vibe isn’t ruined) We personalize the playlist with your input (you’ll love the music) If you say things like, “We’re having a non-traditional wedding!,” or “We need to blend our multicultural families,” or “I’ll die if my domineering future mother-in-law demands that the DJ to play her QVC album collection,” ... then we're for you!

Awarded Best of Zola
We loved using Alternative Wedding DJs for our wedding reception! We worked with Brent, and he did a fantastic job taking our inspiration playlists and expanding on them to play music we loved for cocktail hour, dinner, and the dance floor. He also brought in a disco ball and lights that made the dance floor so fun. The dance floor was never empty, and my friends and I were screaming to songs for hours! Brent could read the room and kept the perfect flow with how the crowd was feeling. Brent was also very communicative and was self-sufficient the night of so that we could relax and be fully present. We would definitely recommend using Alternative Wedding DJs!

With over a decade of experience in the wedding industry, and well over 150 weddings photographed, it still surprises me how my love for this industry grows each year. This work is not about me, it's about the individuals in front of my lens. I can’t tell an honest story if I’m constantly interfering, directing, and manipulating moments. I want your photos to render cherished memories from your day with your people, not memories of your photographer. I’m there to tell the beautiful and imperfect story as it unfolds.

When we first got engaged, Haverlee Photography was a no brainer, and she lived up to everything and more. Every picture from our engagement session, rehearsal dinner, and wedding day is stunning and I have the hardest time picking my favorites. Hands down, best decision on wedding vendors was picking Haverlee. On top of delivering beautiful photos we will cherish forever, Haverlee made everything so fun and easy. My husband said our engagement session was like a date night, and Haverlee had me feel so at ease and beautiful through every step of our wedding day. She is the kindest human who gets the perfect shots of all the small moments, which truly matter to us and feel like us. Haverlee will always be our go to photographer for all the special moments for our family, and you can't go wrong with choosing her to be a part of your special day.

Jen did a fantastic job with all my florals for my wedding!! She did all our bouquets and boutonnieres for the day, along with mini vases for our centerpieces! She was a dream to work with and bought my Pinterest board dreams to life. The quality of the flowers are amazing and I can’t wait to have them for the rest of my life!! Thank you, Jen!!

Choosing a DJ was honestly one of the most nerve-wracking parts of our planning process because there are so many options and you don't truly know the vibe until the day of. We are so glad we got Nate! From the start, the communication from the whole team was excellent. We ended up needing to change our package partway through, and they made the transition so easy and stress-free. On the day of, Nate was incredibly professional and followed our 'play' and 'do not play” playlists. Beyond the music, he was so fun with our guests and had a talent for reading the room to keep the energy fitting the vibe perfectly. We would recommend Nate and the team over and over again!!!

I cried seeing how beautiful my sister looked in those photos. You captured her joy, her laugh, everything that makes her HER. Thank you for giving us that gift.
