About Helios Jazz Orchestra

David Manson

Director

The Helios Jazz Orchestra is an 19-piece modern jazz big band that plays swing, bebop, Latin jazz & funk. We have interesting themed programs including a spy music show and a Sinatra tribute. We perform with a variety of great local and national singers. If you want a smaller big band, we also offer the 9-piece Helios Swingtet.

The Helios Jazz Orchestra rehearses on a regular basis to be a top-notch ensemble unlike many other groups that are thrown together for services. All of our musicians are excellent jazz artists who are reliable. The Helios Jazz Orchestra has performed at the Clearwater Jazz Holiday, Palladium Theater, Ybor Jazz Festival, WMNF Jazz Jam, the Salvador Dali Museum, Tampa Museum of Art, St. Petersburg Jazz Festival and other events.

Yes, we carry an insurance policy of one million dollars.
Our styles include Swing, Bebop, Latin, Funk and Pop.
The group can wear dark pants & dark shirts, suits or even tuxedos.
The jazz big band has performed for over a decade and rehearses on a regular basis. This is not a "throw together" group. All of the musicians are top-notch jazz musicians and they are reliable and professional.
