Meet The Cool Rulers! A youthful, professional and world class dance band collective from Brooklyn, NY specializing in Motown, soul, funk, disco and more. Our videos and reviews speak for themselves. Made up of real friends with real musical chemistry and a true love and passion for the songs that we play, The Cool Rulers cater to clients seeking an alternative to your typical flashy top 40 event bands.

Not only do members of the collective play together in dozens of other musical settings, members of The Cool Rulers have toured and recorded with world-renowned artists such as Beyonce, Taylor Swift, TV on the Radio, Vampire Weekend, Lauryn Hill, Antibalas, Easy Star All Stars, MS MR, Broadway musicals and so many more.

Brought the energy!
Highlight of the weekend! They played every genre flawlessly and were incredible with our special requests (from Susan Tedeschi to Robyn). Our friends and family are still talking about it months later! The singers are great energy and kept the crowd on their feet. We also had a solo guitar and quartet for cocktail hour. If it fits your vibe then the afrobeat music for cocktail hour is a lot of fun. Working with them leading up to it was easy, if anything was hard it was picking our favorites / dislikes from their song repertoire because it’s so long. We didn’t get a chance to hear them live before the wedding but it couldn’t have worked out better.

Best band ever!!!
The Cool Rulers were incredible - no one left the dance floor for hours!!! So many of our guests have said it was the best wedding band they've ever heard. We got married a few months ago, and multiple guests have reached out since to ask us for the band's info - they were seriously so awesome! They were also great to work with from the start - they let us put their full music repertoire into categories which we appreciated because it gave us a bit more control in curating the vibe for the night. We had their 11 piece band for the reception, solo guitar for the ceremony, and jazz quartet for cocktail hour. I was initially nervous to not have heard them in person before the big day but I am SO happy we went with them!! 10000/10 recommend!!!!!

ALL HAIL THE COOL RULERS
If I could give 10 stars I would. About 9 months out from our wedding last October we continue to hear from our guests on a regular basis that we had the “BEST wedding band they’d ever seen” and we couldn’t agree more! The Cool Rulers are not only a group of insanely talented musicians and performers but a thoughtful group of people who brought an energy and joy to our wedding that was truly electric. They have an extensive songbook to choose from and offered 3 special request songs that they absolutely crushed beyond our wildest expectations. Charlie was great to work with and understood exactly what we were looking for from the first meeting AND managed a rather challenging father of the bride’s concern about the hora on a small dance floor with professionalism, confidence, and a can-do attitude. Just as Charlie promised the hora was raucous and the dance floor was packed all night until the very last song. If you are looking for a night filled with celebration, dancing, and collective joy BOOK THE COOL RULERS!!!

Book this band!!!
We worked with the Cool Rulers for our wedding at the Box House Hotel in Brooklyn in 2025. They did an exceptional job, we could not have been happier. The dance floor popped off all night, they also did a great job with the ceremony (solo guitarist) and cocktail hour (jazz quartet). Communication was prompt and professional at all times. Highly recommend!!!

We could not recommend The Cool Rulers more! Not only was Charles and the team incredibly responsive and easy to work with leading up to the big day, but the music blew me and all the guests out of the park. From the jazz at cocktail hour to the band keeping the dance floor packed all night, I couldn't have asked for better music. They have such a wide repertoire that everyone from all of our guests had something that got them excited about. Even when we were potentially going to have to add on ceremony music super last minute and I was starting to panic, the band was so accommodating and helped us to figure out a great way forward.
