    Mountain Majesty Meets Botanical Beauty

This place is absolutely incredible. A seamless blending of sprawling mountain views, lush botanical gardens, and the barn of your dreams. Vibrant plantings border and frame the historic buildings, antique furniture creates intimate seating areas in the enormous barn, the greenhouse -constructed of antique windows and filled with lush greenery- is fairy-tale beautiful. The farmhouse is immaculately decorated and comfortable, and the groom’s suite is equally perfect. The owner, Elizabeth, is warm, welcoming and accommodating which made it easy for us to bring our vision to life. The florals she did were outrageously beautiful. The only thing I regret about getting married here is that I can’t do it twice!

My wife posted a review earlier and the comment from the owner was that my wife wouldn’t know what happened because she wasn’t there. You can read her post from earlier today. I will try to explain why she posted instead of me. You see my grandfather started the Piggly Wiggly chain of grocery stores in Southwest Virginia. My father’s stores were Saltville and Glade Spring. I grew up working in the family stores serving the public. I was raised that you treated your customers with honesty, integrity, respect and kindness. My father would NEVER allow his cashiers to tell customers “I’ll get you at the next register”. You see he thought “I’ll get you” was disrespectful. Cashiers were not allowed to sling a bag open because that might scare a customer. We had to put our arms down in those paper bags and gently open them. Those are just a couple examples. I owned a small grocery/convenience store in Marion originally built so the Piggly Wiggly could be closed on Sunday and customers could still be serviced. I worked that store and my father’s stores for most of my life. My history is why I was so APPALLED to be treated and talked to the way the owner of this venue talked to me and my neighbor. My neighbor had catered an event the weekend before and was sure it would be ok if she showed me the barn and where I would set up my BBQ that I had smoked for weeks as our (wife and myself) gift to the bride. The owner proceeded to verbally attack us for being on her property. As she raged at me all I could say was ma’am at this point all I can do is apologize because that was how I was raised. I was VERY sad that she was acting this way in front of her 8 year old daughter. Maybe that was the most horrendous part of those few minutes. I’m 72 years old and have only been treated that way 2 other times in my lifetime! So hopefully this owner from California can learn that we folks from Southwest Virginia don’t treat people the way she treated us. I’m proud to say I was born and raised here and I have lived by my family’s values all my life. We know here in this area how to treat people that we are serving. That is why I would never give this woman my hard earned money.

While I respect that you were upset by our interaction, your review leaves out an important detail: You illegally trespassed on our private property without permission and let your large dog off leash with many small animals and young children nearby. This property is not only our business, but also our home. Unexpected visitors are a legitimate safety and privacy concern, and we take both very seriously. I understand that you did not appreciate being confronted about your behavior, but I hope you can also understand how unsettling it is to discover strangers on your property without any prior communication or authorization. Furthermore, unleashed dogs are a danger and liability, especially with our many farm animals, new puppy and baby. Our home is not a public dog park. Respect and courtesy go both ways. We work incredibly hard to provide a welcoming experience for clients and their guests, but that hospitality does not extend to unrestricted access to our private property. I stand by my right to establish boundaries that protect my family, my home, and my business. The fact that you and your wife continue to attack our small family business with these reviews after you violated our property rights shows much about your "values." We will continue to share our home and provide wonderful experiences for the community - it is an honor to be the backdrop for meaningful memories.

I got married here in June of 2023- This place is absolutely INCREDIBLE! A seamless blending of sprawling mountain views, lush botanical gardens, and the barn of your dreams. The farmhouse is immaculately decorated and comfortable, and the groom’s suite is equally perfect. Elizabeth is one of the most gracious hosts you will ever have the privilege of visiting. Her manner and level of attentiveness to detail are impeccable. The farm is a turn of the century working tobacco/beef farm that has been fully transformed into a wedding/ photo venue out of a Hallmark special. Horses and ponies and pettable mini cows have a life most farm animals don’t even know how to dream about. Chef inspired farm to table dinners served in a tobacco/dairy barn. Weddings and engagement ceremonies are charming and heartwarming. High tea dates with a few of your closest friends. If you have a need for a hostess with the mostess, Full Bloom Farmhouse should be your first call.
