I’ve been making pictures since I was 12. My parents gave me an ancient 35mm Konica Autoreflex camera, told me to get after it, and the rest, as they say, is history. My role as a photographer is to capture the rare, vulnerable, epic, extraordinary, and wonderfully ordinary moments of life, as well as the beautiful details in between. I strive to make images that come from the heart and will tell your story for years to come. Also, I might cry at your wedding. It happens.

“Jo was the best addition to our day - everyone should hire her! She takes amazing photos and is so fun to work with. We are pretty sure that neither of us have had our photo professionally taken since middle school, so we really wanted a photographer that would make us feel at ease, and Jo is a master at that. Less of a photographer, more just a friend with a camera, she just becomes a part of the party. She took some major weather curveballs in stride, wrangled our huge families expertly, and made us feel so comfortable for the whole day. The whole process from the first emails, to engagement photos, to wedding day was smooth as silk. Our friends and family kept saying to us “your photographer is awesome” and we agree - best photographer ever!”

“Having VMG at our wedding was one of the best decisions we made. From the first conversation, everything just felt easy and natural. No pressure, no awkward posing, just someone who understood what we wanted and knew how to capture it. Our day at Tops’l Farm was full of little moments that mattered to us, and they caught all of them. The quiet first look with my dad, the ceremony under the apple tree, the dog in a tux, the laughter during the shoe game, nothing felt forced, and nothing was missed. They blended in when they needed to, stepped up when it counted, and delivered photos and video that feel true to us. Looking back, it doesn’t feel like a wedding production, it feels like our day, the way we remember it. We’re so thankful we found them.”

Jenna Cavanaugh Photography
Rating: 5.0 (24 reviews)
Portland, ME

  • Starts at $5,000

Natural, documentary, photojournalistic. Real, raw, candid. We’re not going for any stiff prom poses here. I like to capture the day as it is and to document it as it unfolds. I never want to force anything, but I step in and direct where needed. Being in front of the camera isn’t my favorite thing either. I will be here to guide you and prompt you the whole way, I promise.

“Jenna was a joy to work with. After booking, she sent us a book with all kinds of helpful wedding information. We based our schedule off of the sample timeline she provided and it worked out really well. On the day of, she traveled out to the farm we had our wedding at. She made us feel really comfortable, and just ourselves! Her documentary style captured some really sweet moments. We also took advantage of her printing and photobook services. We got some great high quality prints and a book we will cherish forever. It was also super easy to transfer all the digital files to my Google account (in addition to receiving the sleekest looking flashdrive I've ever seen). I felt like we got more than just a photographer because she thought of everything. I hope we are able to have Jenna capture some more big life moments for us in the future. I would highly recommend her!”

Our first kiss was on the beach, under a star-filled sky, on my favorite island, only home to shells, bioluminescent creatures, and wild horses. Soon after, as two very young humans (21 and 23), we were married. As newlyweds we set off on an adventure, kayaking from Maine to Key West. On that trip, we realized how much we valued spending all our time together and being in charge of our schedule. This business is how we live out that dream.

“We could not have imagined better photographers for our wedding day! We met them to get engagement pictures and we had so much fun- we were so worried about being awkward but they made us feel comfortable! And for the wedding day, they got the best shots and were so involved in the wedding without seeming like they were in the way. We got so many compliments on them day of and especially after seeing their work! Highly highly recommend them!!”

I’m Michelle, a Portland, Maine based wedding and couples photographer. I grew up in a small town in Connecticut, spent my college years and 20s in Boston, moved to New York City with my husband and now have found my way back to New England. I worked for eight years in event planning before going full-time with my photography business. I’m grateful for those eight years because they taught me so much that I’ve carried into managing my own small business. Beyond photography, I am an avid reader, love long bike rides, prefer the Monday crosswords, enjoy woodsy day hikes, and am always finding the nearest bookstore when we travel.

Hi ya’ll! I’m Nat. I’m a southerner who’s recently moved to New England. I am thrilled to be a photographer and part of making memories with you! There is something truly special about being the person who creates lasting stories to share. Lana Shevorski Photography
Rating: 5.0 (5 reviews)
Portland, ME
  • Editorial style
  • Starts at $4,800

My style is editorial meets documentary, emphasizing candid moments, details, and portraits. I seek to bring an elevated and artful look to your wedding images with true-to-color editing, crisp details, beautiful luminous skin, and lots of emotions. Fun bonus: for a nostalgic touch, I always include 20-40 vintage film-style edits to each wedding gallery.

“**The Knot Review** What can we say about Lana other than she was truly phenomenal. From our very first meeting, we immediately connected with her. When reviewing the photographers recommended by the Wilburton Inn, her work stood out right away. Her style felt natural, warm, and honest — exactly what we were hoping for. We loved that her photos had a realistic beauty to them, without the overly saturated or overdone look that can sometimes come through in wedding photography. Beyond the work itself, Lana is an incredibly warm and thoughtful person. My wife and Lana immediately connected over their shared experiences of building a life in this country, and that personal connection meant a lot to us. More importantly, Lana really understood the cultural elements of our wedding and the parts of the weekend we wanted to highlight and preserve. She was also so helpful in thinking creatively with us. She listened to what we wanted, helped shape the vision for the shoot, and still had the flexibility to capture the weekend as it naturally unfolded. Every conversation we had with her was easy and pleasant, and we even had the chance to spend time with her in person before the wedding to talk not only about the day itself, but about life, family, and the things that mattered most to us. Lana went above and beyond in every possible way. She gave us more than we could have asked for, added thoughtful touches to support us, and captured pieces of the weekend that we absolutely love. One of the sweetest surprises was that she gave us a small notebook with photos on the day of the wedding, which was such a kind and memorable gesture. We cannot recommend Lana enough. She is talented, warm, creative, thoughtful, and truly cares about the people she works with. We are so grateful she was part of our wedding weekend and look forward to keeping in touch with her for years to come.”

  • Starts at $2,100

Hey! I'm Aimee, a film photographer based in Portland, Maine. I work primarily with film as a way of slowing down and paying attention. Film shapes my approach — intuitive and intentional — creating space for imperfection, inspiration and play. My work is grounded in documentation rather than direction. I follow what’s unfolding, offering gentle guidance only when needed, allowing the day to flow naturally.

“We were looking for a more photojournalistic, slice-of-life style photographer with a bit of a vintage flair for our Maine Camp Wedding, Aimee was exactly what we were looking for! Aimee captured the joy and beauty of our day, the gorgeous scenery, and many artful shots of all of the details that made our wedding special. Aimee was organized, communicated well and thoroughly both in the lead up to the wedding and day-of. Aimee was so sweet and made us feel very comfortable, letting us lead the way, but gently guiding us when needed. If you are looking for a more relaxed, artistic and organic wedding photography experience, look no further!”

“We hired Emily for our August 2025 wedding and could not be happier with our decision. Emily was absolutely amazing to work with and just added such a beautiful presence at our wedding. She was thoughtful and supportive of our needs and wishes, and helped to protect us from some of the family chaos going on, but also was fun and upbeat which matched our vibe perfectly. Even some of our guests told us they had noticed how sweet and fun she was! And then we got our sneak-peak photos back a few days after the wedding. THEY WERE AMAZING! More than anything we could have ever dreamed of - she and Emily #2 (2nd shooter) are so talented and amazing at what they do, it's just incredible. I never thought that we could have such beautiful photos of us as a couple and our wedding day - they tell the story of us, our relationship, and our beautiful wedding through photography. We are soo happy we made the investment to have Emily at our wedding - 10/10, could not recommend her more highly as an artist or as a human being. We love you Emily! Thank you so much.”

Caroline Captures Media
Rating: 5.0 (3 reviews)
Portland, ME
  • Classic style
  • Starts at $3,750

We’re Caroline and Nermin, the husband-and-wife team behind Caroline Captures Media. Our story began in Bar Harbor, where we first met while working along the coast. It didn’t take long for Maine’s landscapes, communities, and coastal beauty to become a place we deeply connected with and eventually came to call home. Nermin grew up in Montenegro along the Adriatic Sea, so Maine’s rugged shoreline and maritime culture felt immediately familiar. Our shared connection to coastal places and the outdoors has shaped not only our lives, but also the way we see and document weddings.

“We loved having Caroline and Nermin as our photographers. They took both our engagement and wedding photos. Caroline and Nermin were great with any questions we had. They broke down the timeline for the wedding in a way that made us feel confident going into the day. They also gave us a sneak peak of the wedding pictures by the time we were eating breakfast the next day! The pictures are beautiful and we'll forever treasure all of the special moments they captured.”

I believe pictures shouldn’t be painful. I want you to feel special, happy, gorgeous, and well-cared-for throughout your photography adventure, but most of all I want you to have fun. A relaxed couple makes an even more beautiful couple on that most important of days, and I will go above and beyond for my couples to ensure that is exactly what happens. I’m not just a photographer on your wedding day: I’m a friend.

“I've never been comfortable in front of a camera and our engagement shoot was a big point of anxiety for me. Within 5 minutes, we were laughing and completely relaxed. It resulted in beautiful photos. Between that time and the wedding, we had developed such a friendship that she was more of a guest than a vendor. Her creativity and eye were just incredible. Our photos and photo book are amazing. We'd hire her again and again and again.”

I believe in magic. Not the loud kind. The quiet kind that lives in fleeting glances, nervous laughter, and hands that instinctively find one another. Those precious moments between moments are the ones I spend my life searching for. Because that's where the magic lives.

“Lucky Thirteen was the first and only photography vendor we looked into for our wedding, and knew instantly we wanted them to be a part of our day! Deb is so much fun to work with, and let us do whatever crazy ideas we wanted as well as helping us brainstorm new ones. One of my favorite parts about this job is watching confidence grow right before the lens. When couples go from, “we’re going to be hard to photograph, we’re so awkward.” to “ no way! That’s us?” my heart could explode every time! Because what is on my camera is exactly what I see in you. It isn’t “you’re so talented!” or “that’s an amazing camera!” no, no. It’s simply you with the one you feel most comfortable with and who fills your heart and soul as no one or thing can. That my friend is genuine love in its most simplistic and powerful form. And it’s what I capture best. :)

“After doing much research, I was blessed to stumble across Katie on Instagram. I immediately fell in love with her work; her photos are rarely staged, all authentic, “in the moment” candid shots. On top of her amazing work she is the most kind hearted, down the earth person. Going to our engagement session, we didn’t know what to expect. We immediately felt comfortable with Katie and never felt awkward. We had to postpone due to COVID and Katie was so easy and accommodating! Our wedding photos are absolutely stunning, there truly isn’t a bad shot! I recommend Katie to every one and will continue to go to her in the future for any of my photography needs :)”

“Kaitlin is amazing to work with. As a photographer who has done weddings myself, I had high standards and specific requests that weeded out a lot of people during my search. Kaitlin immediately stood out to me as someone with the ability to capture the essence of a couple. As I browsed her galleries I felt like I knew the couples and their stories by the time I was done. My wife and I are very introverted, shy, and not used to being the center of attention — let alone in front of a camera. After consulting with Kaitlin it was even more clear that she was the perfect photographer for us. Kaitlin listened to our requests, asked us questions to get a better understanding of what sort of coverage we’d like, and checked in multiple times leading up to the wedding day to go over plans. On the day of, Kaitlin was incredible. She set her flash units up perfectly to give a beautiful sense of lighting to our indoor pictures. Kaitlin was quick and professional with our family formals without feeling like she was rushing anyone. We love our newlywed portraits, largely due to how natural it felt to work with her—again this was huge for us as two people who are a bit camera shy. Our reception photos are equally beautiful, she captured meaningful candid moments without feeling like she was standing between us and the moments happening around us. If you’re like my wife and me and aren’t used to being on camera, I would 100% recommend booking a practice session with Kaitlin either for engagement photos or couples’ photos. As a photographer I’m used to being behind the camera and not in front of it. She helped us feel comfortable and it also helped her see how we interact together as a couple. At no point did we feel like Kaitlin was commandeering our schedule to check off boxes on a shot-list. She was seamlessly integrated everything. Genuinely, I cannot recommend Kaitlin enough. Working with her is like having a best friend there take your wedding photos.”

“Christophe is AMAZING! First off, he did a fantastic job with our engagement pictures last Summer- he got there early to scope out the scenery and lighting and had all of our pictures back in less than a week. He was proactive with communication up until the wedding to confirm times, locations, and photo lists for the weekend. He was prompt, organized and professional the whole time. One of our favorites is the amount of time he took to capture some small details of our big day that we would not have thought of. He really went above and beyond, and most importantly our photos are amazing and all back in less than 2 weeks! All our friends and family was super impressed with his work.”

From our first conversation, he was incredibly responsive and easy to talk to, answering all of our questions without hesitation. Tim came prepared with a clear vision for every shot, from the flowers we chose down to what we wore on our feet, and he knew exactly how to make us look our best. What really set him apart was how he put us at ease during photos—my husband and I have always felt awkward in front of the camera, but Tim made the whole process comfortable and natural. The photos came back stunning and barely needed any editing, which honestly blew us away. We can tell Tim genuinely cares about his work, and we're so grateful to have our best memories captured by someone who takes such pride in what he does.”

What’s up wedding couples? This is Will and Lucia, and we’ve been photographing weddings throughout New England for two decades now, and married to each other for even longer. When we talk about weddings and celebrating and couples and love, we've seen it, we've lived it, we've felt it, and we know it. 20 years is a lot of weddings! We've seen some stuff, we've got some tales. But we can't wait to hear yours.

“For us, the photographs were the most important part of our wedding! We could not have been happier to work with Will and Lucia at Focus Photography. I knew that with the two of them on our side, our photographs would be stunning, and they are! Our wedding at the Dunegrass was amazing, but I'd never remember half of it if it weren't for the beautiful wedding album sitting in our living room!”

Hey there, welcome! I'm a documentary style wedding photographer based in Portland Maine. Candid moments are super important to me as are fine art images that you can hang on your wall! I am also inspired by film photography and edit my photos to resemble true to color film photography.

Hello! Hi! It's so nice to meet you. My name is Hilary! I am a Professional Photographer and Super 8 Videographer based in Southern Maine specializing in Elopements, Weddings, Families, Lifestyles, and more. After attending college in Boston for photography, I found myself shooting weddings for friends and have built my casual endeavor into a beautiful, fun business. Since then, I have expanded into Super 8 and film photography focusing on commercial and lifestyle family sessions.

“This is your sign to hire Hilary as your wedding photographer. I cannot speak highly enough of her and her work. Hilary captured the MOST gorgeous photos on our wedding day and for our engagement session. She was incredibly communicative and helpful throughout the whole process. Our guests loved her and so did we! Hilary is the best!!”
