A place for good clean fun!

A Family Friendly DJ LLC is a Licensed DJ for weddings, parties, corporate events, and dances in the greater Portland area. A Family Friendly DJ was named one of Portland's 'Best Of 2016' DJs! for the second time in a row been on their 'Best Of' list.

Like the name says, we are family friendly. How family friendly is up to you. We can keep it squeaky clean or just make sure no F bombs go through my speakers. If you are unsure if we are a good fit, give me a call. A call can really help us get a feel for each other to see if this is a good fit. I won't take a job if I don't feel confident I can make you very happy. And don't worry, I am not a high pressure / book the gig kind of guy. I'm just not that kind of guy.

    Kept the Party Going

    From the start, A Family Friendly DJ LLC showed they had their act together with detailed communication and thoughtful planning. On the day of our wedding, they kept everything running smooth with clear announcements and rolled with the punches when we needed last-minute adjustments to our schedule. He made smart suggestions about song choices and kept our dance floor packed all night long. The Pokémon song during our garter toss was perfect—we actually tossed Pokémon cards instead, and they nailed it without missing a beat. When it came time for our private last dance, he made sure everyone cleared the floor so we could have that moment to ourselves. We'd highly recommend A Family Friendly DJ LLC to any couple looking for a DJ who is both prepared and willing to adapt to make your day special.

    Fantastic DJ

    David was very personable, helpful, and thorough throughout our wedding planning process. Though we hired him to be our DJ, he offered his advice on wedding planning in general, at no additional cost. He was affordable and offered us great insight into what type of music typically works at receptions. He even offered a complimentary dance lesson to us, which we were unfortunately unable to use. The gesture was very kind, however. During our reception, he ensured our schedule was met and provided outstanding music to our guests. Several of our guests complimented him on the music selection and his role as the MC. We were slightly disappointed that our preferred song choice for our getaway was unavailable, but that was not David's fault; there was some miscommunication and oversight when planning (it happens when we live across the country and cannot meet in person!). Though my wife and I do not live on the West Coast, we will definitely consider David again if the circumstances allow, and we cannot recommend him enough.

    Perfect wedding DJ!

    David was amazing to work with! He was very communicative and helpful. He did a great job on the day of our wedding keeping the dance floor happy and playing the songs we wanted to hear. We also got so many compliments from friends and family about how awesome he was!

    Fantastic DJ

    Dave was amazing, he was the DJ for my wedding and everything was great. He was super communicative throughout the process and everything went smoothly on the day of the wedding. I definitely recommend hiring him as your wedding DJ.

    A really, really good DJ!

    Dave DJ’ed our son’s wedding reception and it was perfect! He had great music, great sound, and was so easy to work with. You should definitely hire him for your next event.

Absolutely BUT I don't always play every request. Sometimes a client has specified they don't want a certain song or genre played so I follow their wishes. Also, sometimes a requested song is just the wrong song and will clear the dance floor. Sometimes people think that just because THEY love a certain song, then EVERYBODY will love that same song. It doesn't work that way. If I am DJing a dance, my goal is to get as many people on the dance floor as possible. Some requests just won't do that.
It's pretty simple. I charge $400 for the first hour and $50 per 1/2 hour after that with a $500 minimum. I charge an extra $100 for a second sound system or if I need to bring additional speakers for much larger venues. I DO NOT charge for travel (so long as it is within an hour's drive of my home in Vancouver, WA). I don't charge for set up or take down of my gear. My hourly rate begins when you want the music to start playing.
I can be as family friendly as you want me to be. I can just worry about not having profanity OR I can make it squeaky clean and make sure the songs don't talk about sex, drugs, or take the Lord's name in vain. I have done a lot of church activities and they generally want things VERY CLEAN. However, most of the time I do weddings and corporate events and they are more worried that people are not offended by hearing an F bomb over the speakers. Just know, the more squeaky clean you want it, the less music is available. Also, I do purchase special 'radio edit' versions of new songs that otherwise might have profanity.
Generally, I will go anywhere in the greater Portland area. From Longview WA in the North, to Wilsonville in the South. From Troutdale to the East, and Hillsboro to the West. I am happy to go further than that but I charge extra if there is more than an hour drive from my home in Vancouver. Now, if someone wanted to fly me to Hawaii for a destination wedding, I'd probably waive the extra travel charge :)
