About this venue
Opened in spring of 2001, the Los Altos History Museum resides in an impressive three-level, 8,200-square-foot building – built entirely with private donations; building ownership was transferred to the City of Los Altos in 2002. The Museum features a changing exhibits gallery as well as the permanent exhibit, “Crown of the Peninsula,” that describes the rich history of Los Altos and the surrounding area.

LAHM is a shining gem under Lisa's light
My wife and I booked the Los Altos History Museum for our wedding ceremony & reception, and we were absolutely thrilled with the result. If you're looking for a museum recommendation, it's also a great stop with both rotating & permanent exhibitions worth visiting. The facilities are wonderful, and Director of Operations Lisa Porter is the beating heart of what makes it the incredible event venue that it is. From the moment we started our venue tour, it was clear that she is an amazing asset in making events run smoothly in every step of the process. Her experiential knowledge, flexibility, responsiveness, creativity, and adaptiveness were instrumental in making our wedding the momentously joyous day that it was, and in making the journey to it fun as well. We stopped looking early in our search when we toured the grounds with her and talked through the logistical freedoms it affords. Naturally every wedding venue suits a different theme, but I do think this space is unique in having in inherent charm (i.e. not a blank characterless slate) that remains highly adaptable to your vision (i.e. your event design will augment it w/o risk of clash). Seeing the beauty of the space as filled with our (read: my wife's) vision, I was bawling from the moment I stepped outside to take my position for going down the aisle. I particularly loved the space in the twilight and after dark as well. Add to it that as a public space, we look forward to revisiting it for many years of reminiscing to come. An experience to remember for a lifetime
Words cannot express how grateful we are for Los Altos History Museum and Lisa! We had our wedding last Fri and it will truly be one the best and most memorable days of our lives. From start to finish, Lisa went absolutely above and beyond to make planning and ideating our wedding day flawless. Her level of organization and attention to detail is unmatched and will be so immensely helpful and answering your questions to put you at ease. What makes her truly special, though, is her amazing energy. Despite keeping everything running like clockwork, she is so unbelievably chill, warm, and easy to work with. She immediately put us at ease and made the entire planning process stress-free. As for the LAHM venue, our guests could not stop raving about how beautiful and quaint the venue was. It was the perfect blank slate to hold intimate wedding, but had room for quests to still be able sneak away into little pockets of the venue. We booked Los Altos History Museum for our wedding and had some mixed feelings about the experience. The venue itself is beautiful with spacious rooms, but we were disappointed by the condition of the bathrooms throughout our event. Communication with the staff was unreliable, so we learned the hard way to get everything in writing—including our wedding date, rehearsal date and time—to avoid confusion. They were not flexible when we needed to make adjustments, and the team wasn't very accommodating to our requests. One thing to know going in: read the fine print on your contract carefully because they made it clear we would not be getting our deposit back. While the space has potential, couples should be prepared for strict policies and make sure all details are documented before signing.

Perfect venue with amazing management!!
My fiancé and I chose this venue for our South Asian engagement ceremony, and it was everything we hoped for. From the very beginning, Lisa, our main point of contact, was incredibly patient, organized, and supportive throughout the entire planning process. As a bride-to-be, I had endless questions, and she took the time to answer every single one thoughtfully and thoroughly. She made the entire experience feel so much less stressful and helped ensure we had everything we needed for a successful event. The venue itself is beautifully maintained and transformed perfectly for our garden party-style ceremony. We truly could not have asked for a better experience. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Lisa and this venue!!
