The Flower Dude
Rating: 5.0 (27 reviews)
·Ratings include Zola and Google reviews
  • Starts at $1,000
  • Serves Cape Elizabeth, ME
  • Offer

I'm Don Clark. I run The Flower Dude, a studio wedding florist in Portland, Maine. Studio means no retail shop, and that's the point. Instead of a cooler full of roses that flew up from Miami last week, I work from three gardens in Cape Elizabeth and Kennebunk — so from June through late September, your flowers are cut the morning you get married. I arrange everything myself, then deliver and set it up: bouquets, boutonnieres, arches, reception tables, all of it. Personal and personalized.

“From our first conversation, we knew The Flower Dude was the right choice for our wedding. Donald was responsive to our ideas and genuinely invested in understanding what we wanted—he didn't just listen, he collaborated with us every step of the way. Flowers were a top priority for us, and he created the floral arrangement of our dreams with stunning displays throughout the ceremony, reception tables, and every corner in between. His attention to detail and high-quality work exceeded all of our expectations. Donald captured our vision perfectly and delivered above and beyond what we envisioned for our special day. We can't thank him enough for making our flowers so beautiful.”

“It's hard to put into words how talented and wonderful Tess was to work with. When we first connected, I was immediately drawn to her vision, how collaborative it felt she was, and how she was willing to work with me on planning a less traditional wedding weekend. Aside from some very general direction, I really gave her creative freedom to do what she thought would be best, and then her first proposal exceeded anything I could've imagined so it was a no brainer to work with her. The year of working together was just as great as that first interaction—she is extremely organized and detailed, takes initiative to handle things that were able to be taken off of my plate, and is just clearly so passionate about what she does, and that is reflected in her work. During the wedding weekend, she and her team took on tasks that were outside of what they should've been handling, but did what they thought needed to be done to make my life easier and to make the vision come to life. I was so grateful to have her around for the weekend. But above all of that, the flowers were absolutely incredible. I can't tell you the number of people—both who were at the wedding and who weren't even there—that approached me or reached out to me to tell me they were the most gorgeous flowers that they had ever seen. There wasn't a single person who wasn't blown away by them, my husband and I included!! Long story short.. work with Tess. You won't be disappointed.”

Milkweed Floral Co.
Rating: 5.0 (4 reviews)
  • Serves Cape Elizabeth, ME

Hi! I’m Iris, the mind, body, and soul behind Milkweed! As a lot of dad’s like to joke, my name must be a birthright into floristry. In all honesty, it really has been a constant thread throughout my life. From picking flowers in my mom’s garden, to working in a flower shop in Boston right after college, then tackling florals for my own wedding in 2021, and eventually freelancing for event florists around Maine - I fell head over heels for wedding florals!

Awarded Best of Zola
“Iris at Milkweed Design Co exceeded every expectation I had for my wedding in 2023! I love flowers and wanted a lot all over the venue, but I didn't specify know which ones I wanted. Iris created the perfect design that I was imagining but couldn't put into words myself. She suggested and constructed an elaborate show stopping floral installation on a tree welcoming guests to the venue and offering an unique backdrop for photos! The colors, textures, and attention to detail were perfection! Each arrangement completely transformed the space into something magical. It was clear how much care, creativity, and passion went into every aspect of Iris' work. Our guests couldn’t stop complimenting the flowers at the time, and to this day, it's the one thing everyone still brings up! If you’re looking for someone incredibly talented, hard-working, and thoughtful—someone who truly cares about her craft and the clients who trust her with one of the most important days of their lives—look no further!”

“I ordered the silk magnolia bouquet (Shelbie Bridal Bouquet - Hand tied) and opted for the scent to be added. They arrived and already looked perfect with very minimal fluffing/adjustment. Flower Moxie – Do-It-Yourself Wedding Flowers
Rating: 4.9 (106 reviews)
  • Starts at $350
  • Serves Cape Elizabeth, ME

In 2013, 8-year wedding veteran Amy McCord Jones realizes she wouldn't be able to afford to hire her own floral services if she was a bride. Then, Amy discovers that there is basically zero help available for DIY brides. No flower recipes. No instructions. No access to florist-grade blooms. Rude. So she launches Flower Moxie! Flower Moxie remains a humble, tucked-away small business out of Oklahoma City. We don’t zoom around on scooters in some fancy high-rise. We stock an average kitchen with canned wine and Aldi chips and listen to true crime podcasts while photographing curvy ranunculus. Join us. There’s cake, hugs, and acceptance here.

Awarded Best of Zola
“We chose Flower Moxie for our wedding flowers and couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. Their DIY flower packages made it easy for us to create the exact look we wanted without the stress, and the blooms arrived in great condition with clear instructions on how to arrange them. The quality was outstanding – the colors were vibrant and almost everything stayed fresh throughout our wedding day. We saved a ton of money compared to hiring a traditional florist, but honestly, you wouldn't know it from looking at our photos. We'd absolutely recommend them to any couple looking for beautiful flowers without breaking the bank.”

“I was so grateful to have found Jen while going through our flower-picking-process. We got a quote for real flowers to start and it was way out of our budget. When we started looking for 'fake' flowers, I knew I wanted them to look as real as possible. I must have looked at 10 different vendors across CT and MA, and as soon as I saw Wood & Word Blooms website I was sold! Her bouquets are one of a kind, each and every piece was perfect for our wedding. She was so supportive and helpful in the color picking process, I changed my mind a few times but she never batted an eye. She got us to the finish line and we couldn't be happier. If you're on the fence, just go with Jen!”

The Flower Spot is a small floral studio in Richmond, Maine, owned and designed by Anne Clark. We work from the ground floor of a circa-1854 house on the Kennebec River — the same house that hosts intimate weddings out back. Anne designs every wedding herself. No account manager, no template package menu, no upsell script. You tell her what you love — a color, a photo, your grandmother's garden — and she builds outward from there. Bouquets, boutonnieres, ceremony arches, aisle florals, centerpieces, cake flowers, and installations. Whether it's one bouquet or every table in the room, the care is exactly the same.

“Working with Naomi for our wedding florals was a DREAM and an exceptional experience from start to finish. We cannot recommend her and her team at Nectar and Vessel highly enough to other couples getting married. One of the best decisions we made for our wedding was hiring Naomi and her team and giving her complete creative freedom. She took that freedom, and spun floral magic into the most beautifully designed space we have ever seen. Her love for florals, and for creating beautiful moments for others shines in her work - and isn’t that what you want on your wedding day? To be surrounded by love through flowers that all your guests can feel? That’s the magic Naomi brings to weddings that is impossible to replicate. The floral designs and artistry that Naomi and her team created for our day were simply stunning. Beyond being beautiful, they were unique and felt personal to us. It was the talk of the wedding that none of the guests had ever seen a display like the florals at our wedding, and that each tablescape and design felt like a work of art. A few things additional things about working with N&V we’d like to highlight: Design and vision: Naomi not only executed a vision for our wedding florals and design, she shaped it from the very beginning. The proposal powerpoint was a detailed mood board of not only the florals, but the overall vibe and design for the wedding. For the bride or groom, like me, who was overwhelmed with how to make a wedding feel cohesive, personal, and intentionally designed, trust in Naomi to help jump start that process and hire her as one of your early vendors. Flawless logistics and professionalism: Working with N&V was completely stress free because Naomi and her team are true professionals. She was respectful of our budget, had a clear, well-structured contract, and payment through her professional portal was incredibly easy. Everything was delivered, set-up, and cleaned up flawlessly and on-time. Importantly, if there were any issues day-of, we didn’t hear about it or take on any of that stress (though with her careful planning, I bet there weren’t any fires to put out!) While these sound like boring logistics, all of this professional preparation on N&V’s part saved us a ton of time and stress wedding planning. Positivity and good energy: Naomi herself is the warmest and most effusively positive person - that was clear from our very first consultation call with her and was even more true on the day of our wedding. We felt showered in positivity throughout our experience working with her, which is exactly what you want on your big day! We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Nectar and Vessel, and specifically, Naomi and her wonderful team. Hire her early, trust her to work her magic and give her all the creative control, and then watch your wedding venue transform. “Abby was WONDERFUL to work with for my bridal shower flowers! Her communication was responsive, prompt, professional and friendly. I gave her a list of some flowers and colors that I love, and she included every single one. Abby recommended the shape and size of the arrangements that would best match the tables at my venue, and they were perfect. I mentioned that my theme was a farmer's market, and Abby brought fresh strawberries that she cascaded out of the arrangements! Abby arrived the minute she said she would for delivery with a cheerful energy. I was so blown away by how beautiful the arrangements were, and how perfectly they matched my vision.
