“Overall, we had a great experience with Windy City Glam and I especially appreciated how committed they were to making sure I felt happy and confident for my wedding day. One thing that’s helpful to know as a future bride is that their model is a little different—you book through the company and are paired with hair and makeup artists rather than selecting them directly. Because of that, I highly recommend sending photo inspiration in advance, as I suspect that helps guide artist pairing and expectations. My first hair and makeup trial unfortunately wasn’t a fit for me, but I really appreciated that Windy City Glam covered the cost of retrials and worked with me to get me paired with a different team. My second trial still wasn’t 100% there, but I made a few adjustments at home afterward and sent detailed feedback through their coordinator (communication goes through the company rather than directly with the artists, which felt a little unusual at first but ultimately worked). By the wedding day, they came fully prepared with all of my notes and feedback. Hung (hair) and Nicole (makeup) absolutely delivered. They were both so pleasant to work with, incredibly receptive to feedback in real time, and continued making small tweaks until I felt completely happy with the final look. I truly couldn’t have been happier with how my hair and makeup turned out, and they also did a beautiful job with my bridesmaids. Another huge plus was how well everything held up—I danced all night, and both my hair and makeup stayed looking great through the end of the reception. While the process took a little trust and communication, I really appreciated the team’s willingness to make things right and ensure I felt my best on such an important day.”

We had to change the time for the second event at the last minute, and Mike was so accommodating — he even offered to bring in a third stylist to make sure we were ready on time. That level of flexibility and professionalism was such a relief, especially being from out of state. Hayley was amazing to work with. She completely exceeded our expectations — the hairstyles came out even better than the inspiration photos! She was kind, personable, and funny, and made us feel so comfortable throughout the process. Eva did a fantastic job with makeup. Her airbrush foundation was flawless and lasted all night. For our second event, Chrissy did our makeup and absolutely killed it — the eyeshadow especially was beautifully blended and truly to die for. Honestly, the hair and makeup were even better than some of the artists I’ve worked with in NYC for other weddings! Overall, we were so impressed with the entire team. The prices were affordable, everyone was professional, and they went above and beyond to make everything perfect. It genuinely felt like getting ready with family — warm, fun, and effortless. “We had a BEAUTIFUL wedding at Silver Lake in early May 2026. When we toured the grounds a little over a year prior, in February 2025, we knew the same day that this would be our place. Not only is the setting beautiful, but we could tell from the beginning that our occasion mattered to Silver Lake staff. For something as meaningful as a wedding, you want to feel special. We felt supported and in good hands; that feeling was consistent throughout the planning process as I planned our wedding (without planner) and had many questions to ask Janene along the way. Amy was super hands-on for the day-of, making sure things went according to plan. She even made our rehearsal fun. Our guests all had a great time as well and have complimented us on the food service. I’d do it all over again, truly. Thank you Silver Lake!”

Moonflower

“We had our wedding at Moonflower, and it was amazing! We originally found Moonflower on Zola. Although we are from the area, we had never visited before, and the photos immediately caught our attention. The bar fit our vibe perfectly, and after visiting a few times, we knew it was the right place for us. We rented both spaces: the main bar upstairs and Nightshade, the speakeasy downstairs. Moonflower has a small stage in the main bar, which we used for our ceremony. The space already has so much character that it needed very little decorating. We brought small flower vases and an altar piece that the bride and her now mother in law made together. After the ceremony, we held cocktail hour and served food buffet style in the main bar. Later, everyone moved downstairs to Nightshade. Its lounge atmosphere and dance floor were perfect for our 50 to 60 guests. Some people relaxed around the cocktail tables while others danced, so everyone could enjoy the night in their own way. Moonflower’s event organizer, Morgan, was wonderful. She made the entire planning process feel easy and was a joy to work with. She helped turn our ideas into reality, assisting with day of logistics, décor, beverage packages, and every question that came up. She was always responsive and available. Morgan also helped us think through details that had not occurred to us, including coffee for our guests, explaining the parking situation, contacting nearby businesses about using their lots, and recommending DJs. We ultimately hired one of the DJs she suggested. Her extra support was incredibly helpful and took a great deal of stress out of planning. If you have not tried Moonflower’s drinks, you are missing out. Their regular cocktail menu is fantastic, and our experience was even more special because of a custom cocktail session with Zach. He created signature drink options for each of us based on our tastes and favorite cocktails. Every option was spectacular, and the final drinks felt personal and special. We chose Funeral Potatoes for the food. Since they already handle the food at Moonflower, we were able to try many dishes beforehand. Our guests raved about everything. We especially recommend the brussels sprouts, deviled eggs, and caprese sandwiches. Alexis, who heads up Funeral Potatoes, was also extremely helpful with selecting the menu. The only outside food we brought in was our wedding cake. The entire staff was phenomenal. Everyone treated the occasion with the perfect balance of care, professionalism, and fun. The night went off without a hitch and was truly one of the best nights of our lives. Moonflower was also extremely reasonable compared with other venues we considered in the city, especially with an open bar and food available on site. Street parking was plentiful, and none of our guests had trouble finding a spot. For anyone looking for a relaxed wedding for 50 to 60 people with a memorable lounge atmosphere, fantastic staff, buffet style food, and exceptional cocktails, Moonflower should be at the top of your list.”

We used Spirit and Moongate in the ground floor and were very happy that the space allowed guests to have some quiet space away from the dance floor when they wanted. “From the very beginning, Daniel exceeded every expectation. Daniel was extremely organized and followed up immediately after every meeting, which gave us so much confidence throughout the planning process. As an interracial couple blending of our cultures was important to us and having a bilingual DJ and MC was a non negotiable. Daniel was the perfect fit. He was very fairly priced and offered everything we were looking for, including CO2 guns, a Photobooth with an attendant, and the ability to personalize the Photobooth experience for our guests — all of which ran incredibly smoothly. It was helpful to have all of these things through one single vendor rather than multiple people to coordinate. What truly set him apart was how intentional and thoughtful he was with our music. He helped us create a detailed plan that included songs we loved, songs we didn’t want played, and the exact timing for everything. Most importantly, he seamlessly blended both of our cultures throughout the night in a way that felt natural and effortless. Our dance floor was full the entire night. He also communicated directly with our wedding planners to ensure the timeline was perfect, which allowed the day to flow without a single hiccup. If you are looking for a DJ who is organized, professional, culturally aware, and knows how to keep the party going all night long, we could not recommend him more!!”

She played the violin during our entire wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, our first dance, and then played the electric violin for an hour and a half during the open dance portion of the reception. Anna's music was extremely beautiful and touching for the ceremony and first dance and vibrant for the cocktail hour and reception. During the reception, she played the electric violin alongside our DJ and absolutely crushed it!
