“Based on previous reviews of weddings at the Colony, we lowered our expectations for wedding day but stuck with the venue as it is stunning, large enough for all of our guests, and in our preferred location of Kennebunkport. Our wedding exceeded expectations and was PERFECT, other than the cloudy day. Nicole is the best! Since we started planning over a year ago, there have been three different wedding coordinators at the Colony and we are SO grateful that Nicole was the one with us in the final months and on our day. She really executed every little detail of our day to make it perfect. Nicole provided such great insight and recommendations, a testament to her years of experience. The Colony is lucky to have her! Of course we could not have had such an amazing wedding weekend without the wonderful staff at the Colony. We are seriously blown away by all of the hotel staff and the staff on the day of, they were extremely prompt, professional, and helpful to make our vision come alive and stick to our requested timeline. The chef and kitchen staff were able to serve 190 entrees in 20 minutes, incredible! The food was also delicious, we received several compliments about the appetizers, entrees, late night food, and morning after breakfast. Most of our guests stayed at the Colony and found the rooms lovely and comfortable. The new Coveside rooms provided a great option for guests seeking more modern accommodations.”

Main Event was the recommended DJ service from our venue, and the matching process to put us with the rigth DJ was so easy. “We got married just about a month ago at Hyla Brook Estate! To say our day was perfect would be an understatement. We had the pleasure of working with Ashley from touring in a hard hat through having her as our day of coordinator! She is truly one of a kind. I am a wedding coordinator myself, so coordinating a wedding coordinators wedding is no small task. She made me feel at ease and able to let go and enjoy my weekend. She was always there with a smiling face to help in any way she could. My wedding party and family had so many amazing things to say about her. It was the perfect weather day, except when dinner service began. We decided to go an untraditional route and have food trucks for dinner. It started to absolutely downpour outside off and on when guests had to go get their food. The Hyla Brook staff was outside with umbrellas walking guests to and from the trucks the entire time. One of my guests even told me a story recently that she had already taken off her shoes and was going to go barefoot and one of the staff members had some of my provided flip flops ready for her to walk outside. Needless to say, everyone working there was amazing and I could not recommend having your wedding at Hyla Brook Estate enough! We wish we could go back and relive our day over and over!”

On the Get Down Tonight website, I watched all the DJs’ introduction videos. At first, I realized I had inadvertently skipped the female DJs, immediately corrected myself, and watched their videos. Both women were fantastic, but Kelsey instantly stood out. While many DJs covered the usual talking points, Kelsey was the only one who emphasized being detail-oriented — mastering the pronunciation of every name, paying attention to pacing, and understanding the many moving parts of a wedding. She’s all about creating an incredible dance floor vibe, but she also clearly understands the responsibility of running the flow of an entire event. The DJ truly sets the tone, and Kelsey takes that seriously. Our friends and family love to be silly and have fun on the dance floor, and Kelsey understood that energy immediately. One moment that absolutely blew us away happened after my two brothers gave their speech. They told a childhood story involving a niche, repetitive song I used to sing, and even sang it as part of the speech. After speeches ended and dinner music resumed — surprise! — Kelsey had somehow found that exact song and played it at the perfect moment. Everyone cracked up, and we got so many compliments on her quick thinking. I had even suspected she might do it as my brothers were singing, and she didn’t disappoint. At the end of the night, Kelsey shared the sweetest comments with us about our wedding, saying how wonderful our guests were and how warmly everyone treated the vendors. The next day she sent us a short clip of our first dance, along with kind words that meant a lot — especially since I had choreographed it myself. In another guest’s video, you can even see her cheering for us along with our friends and family. Kelsey told us she felt like a guest at our wedding, and I honestly consider that one of the highest compliments she could have given us — because that’s exactly how present, genuine, and connected she was throughout the night. From the cake tasting (on china plates, water provided, guided by the wedding coordinator) to the communication process in between to our cake arriving at the venue - this place rocks. We ordered a four tiered cake with classic lambeth frosting. Our cake from Jacques Pastries was both stunning and delicious — we especially loved the red velvet top tier. DJ Dan from Main Event kept the dance floor packed all night and played all of our favorite songs. Our hot pink, winter disco ball wedding vision came to life in the most beautiful way.
