The Flower Dude
Rating: 5.0 (27 reviews)
·Ratings include Zola and Google reviews
  • Starts at $1,000
  • Serves New Gloucester, ME
  • Offer

I'm Don Clark. I run The Flower Dude, a studio wedding florist in Portland, Maine. Studio means no retail shop, and that's the point. Instead of a cooler full of roses that flew up from Miami last week, I work from three gardens in Cape Elizabeth and Kennebunk — so from June through late September, your flowers are cut the morning you get married. I arrange everything myself, then deliver and set it up: bouquets, boutonnieres, arches, reception tables, all of it. Personal and personalized.

“From our first conversation, we knew The Flower Dude was the right choice for our wedding. Donald was responsive to our ideas and genuinely invested in understanding what we wanted—he didn't just listen, he collaborated with us every step of the way. Flowers were a top priority for us, and he created the floral arrangement of our dreams with stunning displays throughout the ceremony, reception tables, and every corner in between. His attention to detail and high-quality work exceeded all of our expectations. Donald captured our vision perfectly and delivered above and beyond what we envisioned for our special day. We can't thank him enough for making our flowers so beautiful.”

“It's hard to put into words how talented and wonderful Tess was to work with. When we first connected, I was immediately drawn to her vision, how collaborative it felt she was, and how she was willing to work with me on planning a less traditional wedding weekend. Aside from some very general direction, I really gave her creative freedom to do what she thought would be best, and then her first proposal exceeded anything I could've imagined so it was a no brainer to work with her. The year of working together was just as great as that first interaction—she is extremely organized and detailed, takes initiative to handle things that were able to be taken off of my plate, and is just clearly so passionate about what she does, and that is reflected in her work. During the wedding weekend, she and her team took on tasks that were outside of what they should've been handling, but did what they thought needed to be done to make my life easier and to make the vision come to life. I was so grateful to have her around for the weekend. But above all of that, the flowers were absolutely incredible. I can't tell you the number of people—both who were at the wedding and who weren't even there—that approached me or reached out to me to tell me they were the most gorgeous flowers that they had ever seen. There wasn't a single person who wasn't blown away by them, my husband and I included!! Long story short.. work with Tess. You won't be disappointed.”

Milkweed Floral Co.
Rating: 5.0 (4 reviews)
  • Serves New Gloucester, ME

Hi! I’m Iris, the mind, body, and soul behind Milkweed! As a lot of dad’s like to joke, my name must be a birthright into floristry. In all honesty, it really has been a constant thread throughout my life. From picking flowers in my mom’s garden, to working in a flower shop in Boston right after college, then tackling florals for my own wedding in 2021, and eventually freelancing for event florists around Maine - I fell head over heels for wedding florals!

Awarded Best of Zola
“Iris at Milkweed Design Co exceeded every expectation I had for my wedding in 2023! I love flowers and wanted a lot all over the venue, but I didn't specify know which ones I wanted. Iris created the perfect design that I was imagining but couldn't put into words myself. She suggested and constructed an elaborate show stopping floral installation on a tree welcoming guests to the venue and offering an unique backdrop for photos! The colors, textures, and attention to detail were perfection! Each arrangement completely transformed the space into something magical. It was clear how much care, creativity, and passion went into every aspect of Iris' work. Our guests couldn’t stop complimenting the flowers at the time, and to this day, it's the one thing everyone still brings up! If you’re looking for someone incredibly talented, hard-working, and thoughtful—someone who truly cares about her craft and the clients who trust her with one of the most important days of their lives—look no further!”

“Working with Elegant Blooms was a game-changer for our wedding day. From our first conversation, the team was responsive and professional, making the whole planning process smooth and stress-free. They nailed every detail. Our bouquets were lush and perfectly matched our color scheme, but the real showstopper was the floral arch. Guests couldn't stop talking about it and several people asked for their contact information before we even left the reception. What impressed us most was how flexible they were when we needed to make a last-minute change, and their setup was flawless. Elegant Blooms didn't just provide flowers; they created the magical atmosphere we'd envisioned for our ceremony. We couldn't have asked for better.”

Flower Moxie – Do-It-Yourself Wedding Flowers
Rating: 4.9 (108 reviews)
  • Starts at $350
  • Serves New Gloucester, ME

In 2013, 8-year wedding veteran Amy McCord Jones realizes she wouldn't be able to afford to hire her own floral services if she was a bride. Then, Amy discovers that there is basically zero help available for DIY brides. No flower recipes. No instructions. No access to florist-grade blooms. Rude. So she launches Flower Moxie! Flower Moxie remains a humble, tucked-away small business out of Oklahoma City. We don’t zoom around on scooters in some fancy high-rise. We stock an average kitchen with canned wine and Aldi chips and listen to true crime podcasts while photographing curvy ranunculus. Join us. There’s cake, hugs, and acceptance here.

“I ordered the "peaches and cream" small package. We decided to skip on ceremony florals, and only have handhelds and bud vases at the reception. We did buy a few more flowers from the grocery to add more peach once the flowers arrived. We made and medium sized bridal bouquet, 4 bridesmaids bouquets, 3 corsages, and 7 bouts. (With lots of flowers left over). My bridesmaids and I did the arranging the morning before the wedding; it was fun, and a great start to the weekend. None of us had experience, but it all turned out great! If you or your bridal party are mildly crafty, I'd highly recommend it!”

The Faux Bouquets
Rating: 5.0 (44 reviews)
  • Serves New Gloucester, ME

Believe it or not, we often have people ask if our pictures throughout our website are showing a mix of fresh and faux and…no they aren’t! Although fresh florals are pretty, we are totally in love with poser-blooms all the way here and that’s what we design 100% of our orders with.

Awarded Best of Zola
“We had the most incredible experience with the Faux Bouquets! From start to finish, Brittany was responsive, caring and efficient! We rented the ‘Moody Romance’ suite and I purchased an add on of a custom bridal bouquet and boutonnière! I had done thorough research on purchasing real flowers and while price was our driving factor, I loved the element of saving on waste with renting and the option to purchase a keepsake! Brittany spent time talking to me so many times about questions I had and was incredibly patient! With the custom bouquet, I was able to upload inspiration photos and she NAILED it! The shipping process was so seamless as well. Brittany provided the tracking numbers and thorough instructions on receiving and then returning the flowers. I pride myself on getting ALL the flowers returned in record time (Brittany said) ;) All of our guests couldn’t believe the flowers were fake and everyone was raving about them! Do yourself a favor and go with The Fuax Bouquets!”

The Flower Spot

  • Starts at $1,050
  • Serves New Gloucester, ME

The Flower Spot is a small floral studio in Richmond, Maine, owned and designed by Anne Clark. We work from the ground floor of a circa-1854 house on the Kennebec River — the same house that hosts intimate weddings out back. Anne designs every wedding herself. No account manager, no template package menu, no upsell script. You tell her what you love — a color, a photo, your grandmother's garden — and she builds outward from there. Bouquets, boutonnieres, ceremony arches, aisle florals, centerpieces, cake flowers, and installations. Whether it's one bouquet or every table in the room, the care is exactly the same.

“I Loved all of the floral arrangements. Just what I wanted. They did outstanding with communications, details, everything. I loved everything. Thank you for everything!! Highly recommend! Got many reviews/comments from the guests”

Jessica is a floral designer and event stylist born and raised in Southern New Hampshire. Like most passions in life, Jessica’s love for flowers and plants started at a young age. During college Jessica had the opportunity to work for a few florists in her home town as well as her college town. It was there she realized what she grew up loving so much could become a career. “Working with Naomi for our wedding florals was a DREAM and an exceptional experience from start to finish. We cannot recommend her and her team at Nectar and Vessel highly enough to other couples getting married. One of the best decisions we made for our wedding was hiring Naomi and her team and giving her complete creative freedom. She took that freedom, and spun floral magic into the most beautifully designed space we have ever seen. Her love for florals, and for creating beautiful moments for others shines in her work - and isn’t that what you want on your wedding day? To be surrounded by love through flowers that all your guests can feel? That’s the magic Naomi brings to weddings that is impossible to replicate. The floral designs and artistry that Naomi and her team created for our day were simply stunning. Beyond being beautiful, they were unique and felt personal to us. It was the talk of the wedding that none of the guests had ever seen a display like the florals at our wedding, and that each tablescape and design felt like a work of art. A few things additional things about working with N&V we’d like to highlight: Design and vision: Naomi not only executed a vision for our wedding florals and design, she shaped it from the very beginning. The proposal powerpoint was a detailed mood board of not only the florals, but the overall vibe and design for the wedding. For the bride or groom, like me, who was overwhelmed with how to make a wedding feel cohesive, personal, and intentionally designed, trust in Naomi to help jump start that process and hire her as one of your early vendors. Flawless logistics and professionalism: Working with N&V was completely stress free because Naomi and her team are true professionals. She was respectful of our budget, had a clear, well-structured contract, and payment through her professional portal was incredibly easy. Everything was delivered, set-up, and cleaned up flawlessly and on-time. Importantly, if there were any issues day-of, we didn’t hear about it or take on any of that stress (though with her careful planning, I bet there weren’t any fires to put out!) While these sound like boring logistics, all of this professional preparation on N&V’s part saved us a ton of time and stress wedding planning. Positivity and good energy: Naomi herself is the warmest and most effusively positive person - that was clear from our very first consultation call with her and was even more true on the day of our wedding. We felt showered in positivity throughout our experience working with her, which is exactly what you want on your big day! We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Nectar and Vessel, and specifically, Naomi and her wonderful team. Hire her early, trust her to work her magic and give her all the creative control, and then watch your wedding venue transform. “I cannot say enough about Abby and the team from Florio. The flowers were even better than I imagined and the number one thing people have asked about when they see our pictures was "who did your flowers, they were beautiful." I had no idea the impact they'd have on the feel of the day, but they made everything even more magical. My bouquet was so perfect. The bridesmaid's bouquets were perfect with their dresses. Abby was responsive and easy to work with. I had some ideas, but she was able to take my thoughts and make a really cohesive look and feel across the ceremony, reception and our personal flowers. We ended up donating our flowers through the Reflower Project and she coordinated with them for us and made everything so easy. If I could give her more than 5 stars I would!”
