Head officiant

A Portland native, and founder of EC Matrimony, Ernie has become an expert in all things weddings. Having recently stepped away from a career in Marketing/Public Relations, Ernie has taken his business from part-time to full-time in 2021 to help more couples realize their wedding dreams. Throughout his 18 years in the industry, and having performed over 3,000 weddings, it’s easy to see why he’s been featured in bridal magazines, national IG posts, and been featured in Huffington Post twice, and on realty TV. Add to that the dozens of national awards he’s won over the years, and you can tell why he’s in demand as a wedding officiant.

Copper

Description

~ For couples looking to either do the legal requirements, or a courthouse type ceremony. ~ Ceremony happens at my office in Beaverton. ~ During the week, witnesses can be provided by my office for an additional fee. ~ Minimal consultation over the phone.

Bronze

Description

~ For elopements in Portland Metro area only. Outside of Portland, subject to availability. ~ This is a very simple, concise ceremony. ~ Couples have input in to style & type of ceremony they would like performed. ~ Minimal consultation over the phone

Silver

Description

~ This is a personalized, unique ceremony created for you! ~ Allows couples to create the ceremony they've always wanted. We will walk through every aspect of the ceremony during our consultation, including ideas that you may not have thought about. ~ Option of having consultation over the phone or in-person (if schedule allows).

Gold

Description

~ This is an all inclusive package specifically designed for weddings on the Oregon Coast, Mount Hood, and The Gorge. This package includes everything in the Silver Package, and the travel fee is included in the price listed.

    Ernie was a wonderful officiant!

    We were so lucky to have Ernie as our officiant for our elopement on Sunset Beach. He helped us with the process leading up to our ceremony, he had great communication, and was very nice. I would recommend him if you are looking for an officiant!

    Ernie is great!

    Ernie did a great job organizing our ceremony and learning about us to ensure it had a personal touch. He was very flexible on what we wanted included in the ceremony as well as what we wanted to skip. He was very personable and easy to work with. Spending money on a professional officiant was definitely worth it!

    Tobin is fantastic!

    Our officiant, Tobin, was very personable from the start. He met with us over coffee to discuss our relationship and what makes it unique. He offered to join our rehearsal and showed up to the outdoor venue despite the rain. Our ceremony was a perfect balance between lighthearted and deeply personal and meaningful. We had multiple guests mention how well Tobin had done and how special our ceremony was. We loved having Tobin lead us through our special day and are so happy with our choice!

    Ernie Made Our Wedding Unforgettable

    Ernie at EC Matrimony was absolutely incredible truly a 5 star experience from start to finish! From the moment we connected he was professional kind and genuinely invested in making our ceremony perfect. He took the time to get to know us as a couple which made our ceremony feel so personal meaningful and uniquely “us. On the day of the wedding Ernie brought such a calm and reassuring presence which helped ease any nerves we had. His delivery was beautiful heartfelt well paced and engaging. So many of our guests commented on how touching and memorable the ceremony was and that’s all thanks to him. He went above and beyond to make sure every detail was just right and it truly showed.     The Best Officiant!

    We had such a wonderful experience with Don Gloud as our wedding officiant! From the very beginning, Don was incredibly responsive and organized, which made the entire planning process smooth and stress-free. His professionalism and warmth truly stood out. His wife and assistant, Dodie, was equally amazing. She has an incredible eye for detail and made sure everything was perfectly arranged for our special day—even down to coordinating Don’s tie with our wedding colors, which was such a thoughtful touch! Don himself was so kind and genuine, and he performed a ceremony that was deeply meaningful and personal to us. One of my favorite things was his speaking voice—it was calm, engaging, and added such a special touch to the ceremony. We couldn’t have asked for a better officiant team. Highly recommend Don and Dodie to anyone looking to make their wedding day truly unforgettable!

Over 18 years, and averaging between 150-250 weddings per year, at this point thousands. And with my team of officiants, that number grows even bigger. It’s mind boggling how many couples we’ve helped over the years. It’s been such a tremendous honor!
The answer is simple: absolutely yes! Why wouldn’t you be able to? It’s your day, not mine. Our job is to reflect you well, and to make sure your ceremony fits you, and feels like you.
No we don’t require it. We do have some officiants who offer it, if that’s what you want. But there is no requirement asking you to fulfill premarital counseling.
Over 18 years. I started out just doing this for friends, family, and colleagues. It grew into an official part-time business in 2014. I took the business full-time in 2021.
Yes, we do rehearsals for an additional fee, when our schedule allows. However, most weddings nowadays don’t require a rehearsal. And, most couples have a wedding planner who offers the service already.
Yes! Many couples ought to get married legally through the courts, or privately with an officiant, due to medical insurances, financial reasons, or a variety of other things. It’s quite common to do a ceremony for a couple already “legally” married.
