Flower Moxie – Do-It-Yourself Wedding Flowers
Rating: 4.9 (108 reviews)
  • Starts at $350
  • Serves New Hartford, CT

In 2013, 8-year wedding veteran Amy McCord Jones realizes she wouldn't be able to afford to hire her own floral services if she was a bride. Then, Amy discovers that there is basically zero help available for DIY brides. No flower recipes. No instructions. No access to florist-grade blooms. Rude. So she launches Flower Moxie! Flower Moxie remains a humble, tucked-away small business out of Oklahoma City. We don’t zoom around on scooters in some fancy high-rise. We stock an average kitchen with canned wine and Aldi chips and listen to true crime podcasts while photographing curvy ranunculus. Join us. There’s cake, hugs, and acceptance here.

Awarded Best of Zola
“We had an amazingly positive experience working with Flower Moxie for my daughter’s July wedding. We placed our order in February using their “How Much Should I Buy” worksheet as a guide. Their website is filled with images and videos to help you make your choices. We went with the Sweet Wildflower bridal bouquet and 4 bridesmaid bouquets and then ordered a Build Your Own Wildflower Mixed Box and Build Your Own Spray Rose Mixed Box to DIY bud vases all for just over 900! In June we decided we wanted more bud vases for our dining tables than we had originally planned to have. I spoke with Maria who helped me add more of what I’d order to meet my needs. Cost was about 150. Not knowing really what to expect, I added 4 premade centerpieces just to have which cost 280. This was SO much more cost effective than trying to work with local florists or deal with wooden flower options. The only issue we had was a UPS issue. The flowers were coming directly from a farm in Ecuador and tracking numbers showed they were held up in Miami waiting for government release. Once released, we were able to see their travels. The flower boxes ended up being delayed by 1 day. The flowers should have arrived on a Thursday for a Sunday wedding. Delivery moved to Friday. Every worried email I sent was responded to immediately by Flower Moxie. They were tracking my order, too, and were on top of it. Once they arrived, we followed the specific directions the company sends out. I have photos of the stages of hydration, watching the blooms get more and more gorgeous as the hours passed. The bridal party put the 72 bud vases together on Saturday in the hotel conference room near the wedding venue. The bridal bouquets were perfect needing nothing but trimming of the stems and wrapping stems with ribbon we had purchased. I would highly recommend working with Flower Moxie, especially if you are looking to support small business, enjoy having the option to be a little hands on (though you don’t have to choose this option), and want to save on the cost of your florals. I plan to use them in the future if the need arises.”

The granddaughter of two gardeners, I have always felt a connection to the earth through the soil. When someone brings flowers into a room, something changes...an energy, an excitement! I love being able to bring that kind of beauty into peoples lives. I'm a small-town girl who enjoys anything that involves working with my hands from cooking to knitting. I'm a total animal lover (partial to dogs), a die-hard Grey's Anatomy fan, and I take my martinis extra dirty. When I'm not flowering in our studio in Milford, Connecticut, I'm mommin' to three amazing little boys (our dog Pippa and cat, Galaxy).

“When I first saw my wedding bouquet I was speechless! It was nothing like any other bouquet I had seen in the absolute best way! The flowers were gorgeous, vibrant, and truly unique, just like I wanted! Kate has such a keen ability to take inspiration photos, run with them, and create something incredibly gorgeous and in line with my vision. The florals she designed brought a lovely pop of color to our reception and pulled the natural look from the landscape into the space exactly like I envisioned. From little details like "snap-bracelet" corsages for the moms to a color-coordinating ribbon on the boutonnieres, Kate totally knocked it out of the park!”

The team at The Faux Bouquets was highly detail-oriented, crafting extraordinary, beautiful floral arrangements that perfectly complemented our wedding day. Having a first look allowed me to see the flowers ahead of time and make any small tweaks I wanted. “First of all - the end product was just beautiful. Everything from the bridal bouquet to the ceremony flowers to the table styling was exquisite and super unique. Shannon did a great job incorporating my favorite color (yellow) and a whimsical, organic wildness into the design exactly as I had hoped. From our first meeting to the written proposal, Shannon interpreted my thoughts and ideas exactly. I was so impressed that she took my ramblings and half ideas and pulled them together into what I was seeing in my head. Shannon’s GORGEOUS color palette informed the entire wedding design and gave me a jumping off point for invitations, bridesmaid dresses, other decor, etc. Unfortunately, the process of working with Shannon was a bit challenging. She struggled with nailing down details: incorrect number of tables, inconsistent accounting of candles/bud vases, etc. It took a number of incorrect proposal drafts until we got it right - just weeks before the wedding. We were honestly quite disappointed by Shannon’s flexibility and communication. She self-describes as being highly collaborative, but that was not our experience. First, as beer nerds, having hops in the design was super important to us, and while she flagged early on it could be an issue to source real ones, we discussed using fake. While we all agreed that she shouldn’t use fake hops if they looked bad, we were sad to see on the day of that they didn’t make it into the design. It would have been nice to have heard a heads up from her that she didn’t plan to use them - even if it was just a brief mention on the day-of. Second, when our cake plans fell through at the last minute, we asked Shannon if she could possibly supply a few flowers for our small 6” cutting cake. She told us she would try, but later we heard from the bakery that she had given them a flat no. She never communicated her decision to us. Thankfully, the bakery pulled something together for us (shout out to Zest Pastry!). Third, the Monday before the wedding, Shannon sent an alarming email with the subject line “Head Advisory, Oh No!”, asking us what our plan was. Getting any email titled “Oh No” isn’t fun to receive less than a week before your wedding. Further, as a trusted wedding vendor, we would hope that she would have plans for weather or unexpected events rather than looking to us during a very stressful period. Lastly, (and most disappointingly) despite having a run of day schedule, Shannon was nowhere to be found when it was time to put on boutonnieres and corsages. Our photographers and party thankfully jumped in to help to avoid major delays to portraits (shout out to Katie Slater!). Fundamentally, the product Shannon provided was beyond compare - everything was beautiful. That said, the communication, coordination, and organization were lacking from our experience.”

“Enza and her team were amazing! They were prompt with their communication and very patient with us as we figured things out and made adjustments along the way. The flowers were truly spectacular, I wouldn’t change a thing! Enza had expertise around what was in season and had several solutions for ways we could approach a flower we wanted that was not in season. I can’t say enough good things about Enza and her team.”

“I can't praise Amy and her team enough for the breathtaking flower arrangements they created for my July 4th wedding! From the very first consultation, it was clear that Amy truly understood my vision and brought it to life with stunning creativity. The selection of flowers was vibrant and perfectly matched our color scheme, featuring a beautiful blend of reds, whites, and blues that added a festive touch to the celebration. Each arrangement was meticulously crafted, showcasing not only the flowers but also thoughtful accents like greenery and seasonal blooms that enhanced the overall aesthetic. The centerpieces were show-stoppers, elegantly designed to suit the tables while allowing for easy conversation among guests. Amy's attention to detail was evident in every bouquet, corsage, and floral installation, making the entire venue feel magical. Beyond their artistry, the team was incredibly professional, timely, and adaptable, ensuring everything was set up flawlessly before the ceremony. Many guests complimented the flowers throughout the day, and they truly added to the joyful atmosphere. I wholeheartedly recommend Amy and her team for any event—they exceeded all expectations and made my wedding day even more special!”
